A client just brought in a rig and says everything works fine just that java wont work.
I verfied this and it is exactly the case,as soon as I try and open a page that uses a javascript it wont work, machine still runs and everything works just whatever has java wont run.Could it be a Win XP problem?Cause according to my boss Win XP was recently installed on this rig and previously with Win 98 SE it worked. Its using Java 2 v1.4.2_03
We have tryed installing Java 2 v1.4.2_01 and it still does the same thing.
Am I on the right track here with these java versions?Someone plz help this machine is urgent

If you're using Internet Explorer to open that page, you may want to check that 'Enable Javascript' is checked in the Options menu. Try that ...

That was the first thing we tryed,in facts thx to that I know what version of java it is.Plz anyone else think they can help out?

Does IE even use a third-party VM? I don't think so. IE problably uses microsofts regardless of what VM you install. So the problem is probably IE. I would try installing another browser. I recommend Opera. It works fine with SUNs J2RE (Im currently running V1.4.2_03).

Wrong. In fact Microsoft legally can't support/supply their own VM any more. If you go to their site they tell you to get it from Sun. See <A HREF="http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/java/" target="_new">this page</A>

If you still want/need MS VM for XP you can still get it fairly easily. Just do a search on the internet (Google found several quickly for me) for MSjavx86.exe.
Once you have the MS VM windowsupdate will update it.
