I have a 1.6 gig with gigabyte mobo
512 ddr
5200 ultra fx card
I'm on cable
I'm running all the graphic stuff off or on lowest settings.
I have the virtual memory of xp using min 2048 and max 4096

While during gameplay I get HUGE leaps of lag. I'll be walking up a ramp
and the next thing I know I'm somewhere else.
then it'll play okay for awhile.

I've been shot and killed and not even see it. It's like I just walked
through a teleport or something.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Either server glitches, network lag, or poor network connectivity
between you and your chosen server. Try it again on another server.

[Also, just because I've seen a lot of this lately, check for
spy/adware and other stuff running in the background.]

in the options, under game tab, make sure speech recognition and preload all
players skins are unticked!

i have a vey similar setup, not pretty but it works.
difference being a permenant swap file restricted to 768 megs
run stat fps and watch for spikes, maybe something running in the
background....anti virus check?

i assume your doing an online game.....it's lag
rocket come out of nowhere...or seem to.
if your not online....well, there's something going very wrong.
worst case would require backup and reinstallation of the os.
i do it once in a while and get snappy back....was overall slowing,
not what you report.

play on low ping servers...or try to...remember that even if a low
ping shows it doesn't mean the server won't have an issue at some
point in the game. usually others will also be affected and you will
see postings about lag. hey, ask...anyone lagging?

being shot and not seeing it....omg sniper? <grin>
some servers have instant respawn...others allow you to look around
while you bleed and twitch out and of course if you hit tilde (~) you
can see who shot you.

Your symptoms is what made me discover that the fan was failing on on my
ti4600. In my case, ut2k3 also started having these long pauses which did
not happen before in the years I played it.

Just set-up a new computer. 2.8Ghz, ATI Wonder 9600.
I get the same jerkin freqently. Even my computer re-boots after a while
if I let it go.
