Question Joining a Domain VM via a local account from a non domain computer

In this scenario we have nondomain employees using personal equipment. They need to access a domain hosted VM, so, we created local admin accounts on the VM's and attempted to login using the computer name\localadmin username. We still cannot connect, any thoughts?
