i just purchased a bfg geforce7800 gt oc PCIe graphics card to replace the radeon x300se 128mb hypermemory PCIe card that came with my new dell xps400. my computer is using a pentium d 2.80ghz cpu and has 512mb of ram does anyone think i will have any problems? also the new card only has dvi connectors and my monitor is vga , i know there are adaptors but do they create any problems?

The adapter shouldn't cause any problem other that it sticks out like an inch and a half. been using one for a full year on my ati 9000 AIW DVI only and never a problem with it.

Speculation on a product you don't own yet, interesting! I just ordered a evga 7800GT from the egg. It's supposed to be here Monday so I hope it works too!

I used a DVI to VGA adapter on my old 9600 Pro for a couple years for my second monitor and I ran into problems near the end. The adapter does stick out an inch or so, plus the monitor cable adds another inch so the strain of that 2+ inches eventualy broke the solder on the board!

So just be careful 😀

I'm sure it was the combined weight of the DVI to 15-pin VGA connector and the cord, rather than an accident in which the cord might have been yanked hard, breaking the solder joints. Hmm...

lol, yeah, that was yanked or bumped, it didnt just break the solders off.
