Just got Quake 1

I recently bought Quake 1 from the stores and I surfed the net for
some addon stuff. I didn't like QuakeForge (I have Windows XP) so I
tried the native GLQuake. It made the menu and a couple other stuff
appear odd. So, I took a visit to PlanetQuake and got the newest thing
in the news headlines Q2k4 😛. The problem is, none of my settings
are saved, and the only way to save my control bindings are to add
them into config files, but I like to change my mouse-sensitivity so
that's a problem. In both Q2k4 and GLQuake, when I start Quake it
gives errors about command seta and other stuff. So I was wondering
how I could fix that, but these are just inconveniences as i'm already
on Episode 2. Another thing is that Quake is VERY dark for me, and it
seems a lot of nVidia cards (like mine) have this problem. Itried to
get idGamma (it was HARD to find) but since its a DOS only program, it
runs BUT slow in WinXP. Can anyone e-mail me the frontend? (I'm using
Google Groups which does not support attachments). Here's my mail:
Deaths.Hell@GMail.com. Thanks.

Essentially all current activity in Quake is taking place outside of America
(and on non-U.S. websites), particularly Scandinavia (though there seem to
be a lot of players also in central Europe -- Russia and Poland -- and
Brazil). PlanetQuake is a great resource, but there's been nothing new there
in years.
