K7VTA3 board died???

I have a K7VTA3 Rev. 8.0 board, AMD XP 2400, 256 meg DDR,
Radon 9200SE video card. I dual boot 98SE and Windows XP
on seperate hard drives. I use Win98SE most of the time.
Problem:
The system worked flawless for months. The other morning I
checked for e-mail and it worked fine. About six hours later
it would not "wake up" from "sleep mode". I tried to reboot
and nothing. It won't even start the boot sequence where it
checks the drives for a boot disk. It does absolutely nothing.

Any ideas as to what might be wrong greatly appreciated...

I had one do this to me a few months ago.
Turned out to be the power supply.

All the fans run when it's turned on, did your fans run when the power
supply went out??

Remove and reseat ram, same for vid card and all HDD cable connectors
etc. Doesn't usually take long and will help eliminate bad connections
and poor contacts.

I've reseated memory, prodessor, switched out video card, removed
modem, and unplugged second hard drive. None of this effected
anything. It still does nothing...

Other things you might try.
Make sure the voltage selector switch on the back of the Power Supply
Unit is all the way to the right selection (either 115v or 230v)
If you have a shutoff switch on the PSU, turn it off and on a few
times. (Does the power supply fan even spin)?
Plug your machine into another good outlet and/or try another power
cord to your PC.
Temporarily jumper the Start switch on your PC to make sure it isn't a
faulty switch.
Check for a burnt smell in your PSU, cpu, or anywhere inside your PC.
Look on your MB for any burnt spots or leaking or bulging capacitors.
See if you can borrow another PSU.

The power supply fan runs as does the CPU fan and two case fans.
I will try some of the other possibilities...

Yes all fans would run.
I figure the Power Good pin of the power supply was not working.

Dennis, it & the K7S5A are known to "lose their cmos" settings. Clear
your cmos(manual or Google tells you 2 ways to do it). Then set all to
defaults. this should allow it to boot. Then, restart & reset your cmos to
where your hrdwr requests. HTH & good luck. s

that is more aggravation than disaster...

Reset CMOS and got no farther that before. It never gets to the
point where it seeks boot disks muchless seeing anything on the
monitor. All that happens is the hard drive light comes on and stays
on...

I am tending to agree with TX_Dude in that the PSU is more likely the
problem.
