Hi
I'm building a new games system around an Athlon 64 in a Neo2 Platinum board
and have run into serious problems.
When I first put the system together it booted up no problems. My problems
started when I attached an old floppy drive to the mobo in order to load up
a sata driver. Don't know exactly what happened but at some point the system
just died and refused to power up at all. By a process of elimination I
found that the psu would remain on only if I disconnected the 4pin cpu power
connector from the mobo. I was advised that this indicated a faulty mobo.
Having now fitted a new mobo I find that the psu now remains on with both
power connectors attached to the mobo. But that's it, I don't get any
signals from either the on-board graphics or my GeForce 6800 Gt board. I
don't get any beep codes from the mobo speaker at all.
After playing around a little more I now find that the psu powers up
immediately when switched on without me needing to press the case power-up
button.
Can anyone suggest a possible cause or a good procedure for isolating the
fault. My thoughts are that I may have a broken psu or processor.
Thanks for any help
Fred
