K8V SE Problem with Audigy ZS soundcard

I just built a new computer using the K8V SE motherboard, Athlon
3200+,
and set up a Raid 0 using the Promise 378 controller with two WD80
Sata
HDs. Everything works great, including the onboard SoundMax but when
I
insert the Audigy ZS Sound Card into any of the PCI slots and disable
the onboard sound, I get an "No Harddrive found" error on start up and
can't boot.
Has anyone seen this problem before. I searched the groups and have
had no luck so far?

I did. I have the same config only 2 160 Seagates,and audigy card (not
the #2 rather the first.) I did get a boot up, but the raid was
corupted, and at times I could not even browse "My Computer." The mouse
was also acting squirrely, hanging and then jumping. Ditch the sound
blaster, I heard turtle beach makes a better sound card, and I intend to
try one this weekend. I will post my results asap.
I read someplace recently that the via chipset has a lot of conflicts
with soundblaster cards, and I am going to check thier knowledge base
(both) to see if I can find any more information. Creative support is
weak, tried them in the past, and as a result I will not be buying thier
products in the future.

I am having trouble with a system using a VIA chipset including a 686b
southbridge and a Creative Sound Blaster Live card.

When the 686b southbridge was first released, motherboard manufacturers
and VIA discovered a problem when trying to transfer files between the
primary and the secondary IDE channels on motherboards using ultra-DMA,
when a Sound Blaster Live was plugged in and drivers activated. This
issue was caused because too much noise is transferred across the PCI
bus by the Sound Blaster Live driver set. In an attempt to fix this
issue, some motherboard manufacturers modified their BIOS. In some
instances, these modifications to the BIOS caused a data corruption
error even when not using a Sound Blaster Live. VIA released a patch
which resolves this issue, which is incoroporated in the 4in1 drivers
from the 4.31 version onwards. Motherboard manufacturers were advised to
change the modifications made to thier BIOS to elimate the data
corruption issue. If you are experiencing data corruption or lock up
when transferring files between two IDE drives: 1) Make sure you have
the latest BIOS from your motherboard manufacturer. 2) Make sure you
have the latest 4in1 drivers 3) Make sure when you set up your system
that you install the 4in1 drivers both before and after you install the
SBL to make sure that the drivers see your SBL and install the correct
patch. The patch will only install if the SBL is installed."

Very strange Jim..

I have the same board, using a 3200 64bit cpu, also using the promise sata
controller (single drive only) I too have the onboard sound disabled and use a
Audigy 2 LS card without any problems.

What happens if you plug the sound card into another pci slot?

It may be the Audigy card itself that's faulty especially if its new, may be
worth trying it in another machine (warily of course)

My current ati 9800 pro was faulty when I first received it and it prevented the
m/c from booting (Dead) until I changed it.

Thanks for the responses. Still no luck ... here's what I tried
1. Every PCI slot available
2. Disable/Enable Onboard Audio
3. Disable/Enable Hyperchanneling (heard that might be affecting it)
4. Disabled/Enabled PlugnPlay in bios
5. Updating all drivers VIA 4in1, Promise, etc
This is kinda of weird ... but I can't use my USB keyboard to get into
the bios. I have to plug in my old miniplug keyboard to get the delete
key to work in time.

I have yet to try switching out some interrupts. Might do that next if
I have time. Video card is an Asus 9600XT, Logitech WebCam 4000, 2 -
512 meg Kingston KVR400X64C3A DIMMs, but nothing else odd. The Audigy
ZS runs OK on my A7V266-E motherboard computer; just this one is bad.

Same thing.

Mine was not faulty works on an Asus A7N8X

Let me know if it was the sound card.
