Oh boy, if the Reference card card drops, and i have been seeing price increase and price points for non reference to be around the same as the current 7970's prices. So if i can snagg a GTX 680 reference!. I can only spend 500$(Shipping and all, so i hope free shipping is in the works to)

i dont think prices wil climb to much AMD cards maybe will get at greeting from the price knife soon. for both reff and non reff

and thinking any day soon Nvidia will release some more kepler cards for some to drool over.

Another price guess is the 685 gtx and 690 gtx will cost over 600$

That sounds about right, I have been hearing the models below GTX 680 are expected no later than Mid april

i for one cant wait to try 1080p gaming atm stuck on ye old faithfull 8800 gtx 7xx Mb (only baked 1 time in 5 yrs) 😀

here the kicker, OC scailing on the 680 only happens when there is headroom and also could never happen at all durring games. The scaling of an OC'ed 680 is all over the place, sometimes getting only a 3% increase in performance with a 15% OC. The 7970 gets almost 10% for a 15% OC most of the time in almost every game.

the reviewed 680 have been running at 1100-1200mhz at stock with the turbo and the offset sometimes doesn't do much. Meaning that the 1300mhz OC would only be about a 10% OC if it even hits it during gaming.

I know I don't have TH status but I do have real life computer status/experience and I am OLD so please do not F with the buffalo. I try and speak to all people not just the ones like you that understand about PCs but to the people that need these forums for getting there feet wet and LEARNING. Mod was also talking to you after all this mess was systemic for your disrespect toward another forum member and the mistake you made was that member was ME !

After Fixing my own computer problems i began helping other people "Mostly in the graphics card section" now i am currently going to school for Cetification and a degree in programming (not because of toms)

ANd one final note. i know the Mod was talking to me but i have disipline and when i said Thank You, i know things were settled and i wouldn't have to argue, not because either of us were bad guys. We just needed to straighten up.


Good to Meet you PC. i have talked to many Elders that have big influences in the computer world. I have spent hours just talking with them about the whole PC community and how technology is gonna change over the next years. Not because we change it our selves but its just a real interesting subject.

I try to see things from a company's view point. Like ASUS for example. Their Marketing Slogan is Inspiring Inovation. When they give product demo's and such and promoting their products. the way they describe their products. With just such a calm tone. I want the person i help feel welcomed on the forums. One thing i see i could improve on tho. Is not talkng back to the people that gets attituded because i admit i got a little out of line earlier. But from now on. Well tho the 7970 overclock edition is better than the 680...i would still buy the 680.... I only buy the thing that does what i need to. I don't have the money to run from one part to the next when something is beat. SO my 680 (When i get one) will be plenty for my 1 1080p monitor.

But none the less, Thanks for that bit of news. I was looking for a good comparison post that would explain the OC 7970 would beat the 680...gonna be very interesting to see the Non reference OC 680's

Still as far as I read the benchmarks,out of the 6 gaming benchies the 680 won 4 instances.So its still not a proper counter by the 7970 OC,keep in mind.

It'll take a month or two for the partners to release their non reference OC cards since the overclocking mechanism in gtx 680 w/o gpu boost gets a bit complex.Yet there's potential of performing OC to 2ghz.
So it seems like we'll have 2 again play the waiting game. 🙁

Best way to highlight an Nvidia is to pick games that favor only Nvidia but remember Skyrim is a terrible GPU benchmark so is WoW and BF3 just like running on Nvidias architecture so thats out and Metro is a buggy game to begin with so thats out so what do you have left is WoW buhahahahhaha do I need to say why this game is a terrible GPU benchmark really come on.
