did anyone read this about the AMDhd 7970 GHZ edition ?

Newcomer AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition probably has "new special faking feature". It is own secret "GPU Boost" technic. AMD driver/GPUz reports different frequencies than they really are! GPU clocks of "GHz edition" are 1.0-1,1 GHz (some vendors has 1,05 or 1,075 MHz) AMD gave them a free hand in this. But there is impossible to check real frequencies, AMD keeps it masked by driver. Stay tuned ... we will prove it later. Card is here ... awaiting for detailed testing.

Update 1: Its look like, GPU is working @ 1,1+ GHz instead of 1050 MHz reported in driver/GPUz/utilities. Performance is pretty higher then classic HD 7970@1,05 GHz! Power consumption/heat/noise corresponds to these higher clocks! Stay Tuned .

Its just plain daft at the moment its like a game of poker or maybe chicken.

Companies wont drop prices, the masses wont buy cards, because they are A. waiting for a price drop or B. Waiting for the midrange cards to be released.

:pfff:

Mactronix :)

remember when the same guy said that the card will be no different, just higher binned and that it will suck power? He also seem to have edited this article since last time I seen it.

the card has more transistors and less performance than the gt450. This is kinda sad considering the clocks they get from kepler compared to fermi.

so the only time you post on this thread is to call a kepler card sad or promote an ati card?

:heink:

Guys, don't start that again... Gosh... Kids these days... hahaha

Well, in other news...

I've been playing around with the beta drivers on some games, and there's no noticeable difference in the AVG frames reported by FRAPS, but there is some difference in the adaptive v-sync; I don't know if they changed something there, but from the 34 to the 48, I did notice the tearing and slowdowns in my GTX670 are not showing anymore.

Well, it could also be that I finally managed to get a constant Boost for the card with the MSI Afterburner (custom fans and just a 100Mhz increase for the boost, putting it in the 1200-ish mark).

Cheers!

I asked for a AMD sticky thread before but nothing so far. I say it like it is. So the only time you have anything against me is when I post stuff supporting AMD or call an nvidia card sad?

I said the 670 is a great card as well as bad things about AMD cards. Maybe its not me but how you choose to read my posts.

i do not have anything against you at all.
you have been a great with your postings helping folks in the forums; i have learned a few things myself. i made an observation that it seemed to me your postings here seemed quite negative towards nVidia.

if that is incorrect, i hope you accept my apology and understand it is nothing personal.

😍 ya man! 😍

he is saying the same thing now as well. requoting for you :

Update 1: Its look like, GPU is working @ 1,1+ GHz instead of 1050 MHz reported in driver/GPUz/utilities. Performance is pretty higher then classic HD 7970@1,05 GHz! Power consumption/heat/noise corresponds to these higher clocks! Stay Tuned .

lol my WEI raising from 7.1 to 7.6 with the latest driver. honestly i don't know what kind of metric did WEI use to get the score but IMO as long as gaming performance was not affected people shouldn't care much about WEI. to me what matters are in game performance and stability.

uh this is off topic isn't it? 😛 can we discuss about geforce driver here or do we need separate thread on that? 😀

The cake looks nice tho.

Recent forum activity would lend support to this, we have a dedicated Nvidia sticky with next to nothing actually happening on the new card release front for a while now so why not a AMD thread.

It would stop people having to post AMD info on the Nvidia thread, if there is concern that it would be an issue well to be fair it is what the Mods are here for.

Personally I am of the opinion that a forum is only as good as its members and should be run for its members.
The lack of an AMD sticky does seem to be an obvious omission to fair and unbiased coverage so why not ?

Mactronix [not sure why its quoted twice ?]

esrever and mactronix: there used to be a amd/radeon sticky. iirc some (imo someone(s) with a very strong nvidia bias or just) troll(s?) managed to take it so downhill that mods decided to close it. it happened right around gtx 680 debuted and 3rd party 7800 cards started to come out.
moreover, i suspect that if the sticky was re-opened, antiradeon comments might still be posted.

Same thing happened to this Nvidia sticky as well. Heavy handed Moderation had much to do with it as I recall.
Just does not seem right that one should be reopened on request but it seems the other wont be.

Just my opinion for the little that its worth.

Mactronix

Not that any of that matters really now, just saying its not showing an even hand to all is my point.
I can see no difference the Kepler news and discussion thread is still open these cards are out in the open much the same as the HD cards are.

Its a Moot point any way better move on.

Mactronix
