to be honest i actually find it pretty ridiculous that nvidia had the balls to do something that i think, frankly, is quite stupid. release a card to say "hey amd stop hogging the spotlight!" then when the light comes onto nvidia they choke 8mile eminem style! wheres the cards? no-ones got one because they only exist on forums as little images!

they really should have bided their time, people would have waited. the fanbase of nvidia is big enough, they of all people should know that.

not to wee wee to much on your parade its from jan 15. :ange:

yup kinda like using a nuke to clean out the cats litter box :pt1cable:

and it kinda reminds me of socker hooligans with the nvidia and Amd fanboys.

good and fun read sometimes 😀

If anyone wants to try out FXAA and Adaptive VSync, the latest 301.24 beta drivers are up on the Nvidia website. These are the first 300 series drivers compatible with all Nvidia cards. Some highlights:

Performance Boost – Increases performance for GeForce 400 Series and 500 Series GPUs in several PC games vs. GeForce 296.10 WHQL-certified drivers. Results will vary depending on your GPU and system configuration:
GeForce GTX 570/580:

◦Up to 23% in Just Cause 2 with SLI
◦Up to 21% in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
◦Up to 17% in StarCraft II with SLI
◦Up to 14% in Far Cry 2 with SLI
◦Up to 9% in Bulletstorm
◦Up to 7% in Civilization V
◦Up to 6% in Deus Ex: Human Revolution with SLI
◦Up to 6% in Dragon Age 2 with SLI
◦Up to 5% in Metro 2033 with SLI
◦Up to 5% in Total War: Shogun 2

GeForce GTX 560/560 Ti:

◦Up to 20% in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
◦Up to 15% in Just Cause 2 with SLI
◦Up to 13% in Far Cry 2 with SLI
◦Up to 12% in Bulletstorm
◦Up to 11% in Civilization V
◦Up to 10% in StarCraft II with SLI
◦Up to 9% in Batman: Arkham City
◦Up to 4% in Deus Ex: Human Revolution with SLI
◦Up to 4% in Dragon Age 2 with SLI
◦Up to 4% in Metro 2033 with SLI
◦Up to 4% in Total War: Shogun 2

NVIDIA FXAA Technology – shader-based anti-aliasing technology available from the NVIDIA Control Panel that enables ultra-fast anti-aliasing in hundreds of PC games. FXAA delivers similar quality to 4x multi-sample antialiasing (MSAA) but is up to 60% faster, enabling substantially higher performance in games. FXAA is supported on all GeForce 8-series and later GPUs. Note: This feature is disabled for games that already have built-in support for FXAA.

NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync – dynamically enables vertical sync based on your current frame rates for the smoothest gaming experience. Adaptive VSync is supported on all GeForce 8-series and later GPUs.

NVIDIA Frame Rate Target – dynamically adjusts frame rate to a user specified target. Support for this feature is enabled via third party applications via NVAPI.

Yes for Adaptive VSync and FXAA. No to GPU Boost.
Reviews on the Guru3d forums are generally positive for these drivers.

One thing i like that gigabyte did for those that don't like the reference design. is they took out the "Tower of Power" Design but now that i think about it. they can since the non reference design heatsink and fans are on it

PhysX is alive and well.

While I can understand the guy in the Borderlands 2 video endorsing Nvidia, it's already been stated that the PhysX on the GTX 680 is no different than any other of their GPU's. I'm wondering how much he got paid for that plug, because it was a bit shameless.

I'd also like to point out that the new Beta drivers from Nvidia, 301.24, are absolutely terrific for every game I've tried them in so far. Skyrim has never run so smooth, Adaptive V-Sync me love you long time!

yeah, I was thinking if more cores with lower frequency might do better physx than the other way round. But if its some petty advertisement-only demo like ironwilly said, then its sad.

really?the earlier info on these by matto seemed tempting too. Will surely try 'em then...

I haven't read anything about it lately, but prior to release there was some mention that the GTX 680 was going to have some special circuitry to enhance PhysX performance.

feh. i got the darknessII because it was suppose to be so great with the physX. i am sorry i wasted my hard drive space.

really, why do i want flying debris to get in my sights when i am aiming for a headshot?

There were a lot of rumors about the Kepler cards having dedicated blocks for PhysX, but to my knowledge that never made it into the GTX 680. The fact of the matter is, all Nvidia cards use the same PhysX engine, so even enhanced performance would not alter the way the game looks; simply how it performs.

Now, in Nvidia's launch of the GTX 680, they showcased some new features that will be in future PhysX games, but these will be available to all cards. Some were pretty cool, like the fur demo and enhanced fracturing. It seems like every card that comes out promises realistic hair in games and half of the promises never make it past hardware demos. Lol.

It was a little deceptive the way they launched the 680, I suppose. They didn't deny a lot of the new features would be made available for older generation cards, but they certainly advertised them as being new features for the Kepler cards. Essentially, the only thing you won't have access to (Without a Kepler) is GPU Boost. All else is present in the new beta drivers and running beautifully!
