I'm continuously getting kernel power error event 41. The computer has never restarted while being used, like when gaming or surfing the web. I didn't even know it was a problem until I looked at my event log 2 weeks after building my pc and saw the kernel events. I was just now sitting here watching tv with chrome open and a few tabs and saw the computer shut down and restart. I never get any "blue screens of death" or any boot errors. I updated all my drivers with driver booster and updated graphics card drivers a few weeks back from amd catalyst. My power button is not always operational when waking from sleep, I have to push in the very corner to make it work so I'm thinking maybe its that, but since I turned on wake from usb device I never even shut the computer down. It isn't a problem for me since it never does it while I'm using the pc, and I don't really care about fixing it as long as it isn't damaging or putting my computer at risk. I wanted to upload a photo of the errors but I can't seem to figure out how to post it. Thanks for any advice and help.

it is your power button

Hi,

When it shuts down by itself how do you turn it back on? Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Start by running Windows Update, install all updates available.
- Next is to install the latest BIOS version.
- Here's a link for the latest BIOS: http://download.msi.com/bos_exe/7903v15.zip
- Do change the Power Options as well to make sure it's not the power option causing it to shut down.
- Open Power Options and click on Change Plan settings on the power plan select then click Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Hard disk and set Turn off hard disk after to Never.
- Expand Sleep and set Allow hybrid sleep to OFF.
- Set Hibernate after to Never.
- Click Apply and OK then observe it again.

Ok I changed those settings, thank you I'll keep an eye on my logs to see if it changes anything. There were no available updates and the bios is up to date. Normally the kernel error occurs when the pc is not in use so I do not observe what happens, when I did see it for the first time today the pc turned right back on with no boot errors.

Denis280 Why do you feel its the power button? although im inclined to agree I'd just like to know your reasoning behind it. Thank you!

Thanks both for your help!
