Question Keyboard not working but trackpad (MacBook Pro 2018)

So my Classmates "new" macbook pro's keyboard isn't working.
The only thing that works is the mousepad but she can't login

We have tried resetting the SMC and the NVRAM but nothing seems to work.

Any help?

Can you see when the MacBook Pro was made? Early/Mid/Late 2018? I know for a fact that pretty much all MacBook Pro's of 2017 all went to RMA due to faulty keyboards. They learned their lesson and revised it in their Mid/Late 2018 versions.

The Model is a A1706 EMC 3163 if that means anything.
I'm not really into macs but i do have the knowlegde of pc if that helps

That is a mid 2017 13".
Does she have the adapter so she can connect a standard USB keyboard so she can try SMC and PRAM resets?
By putting "new" in quotes makes me think she bought this used? Can she take it back?

Agree with trying an external keyboard. Would make an Apple Genius Bar appointment if you can. Often if it has been a known issue, and can be fixed, they may just fix it for you.
