Friend of mine once tried to convince me to buy an Xbox. He said that it's more challenging to play an FPS on the console because it's harder to aim with a gamepad. I was like, "Dude, I like a good challenge, but it must be with the in game mechanics and gameplay. Not because the input method/hardware/controller is clunky. That's just torture."

A game controller will never have the speed or Precision of a Mouse in first person shooters.

It's ok for platform & racing games but for FPS it's as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

Having said that years ago I got a PS2 just for Gran Turismo, the controller's analogue buttons allowed much greater control over accelerating and steering that a keyboard can, trying to get a perfect launch in NFS shift is almost impossible by pressing the up arrow quickly. What the PC needs is a true "Gaming keyboard" with analogue keys, depending how hard you press 'W' would determine how fast you walk/run forward etc.etc. Then for typing extra pressure could result in faster repeat rates & shorter repeat delay times.

For FPS, RTS, and most RPGs, a mouse and keyboard are the sensible choice. For platform, sports, JRPGs and some other genres, a gamepad is usually better (ever played platform games with a keyboard? Waste of time).

For fighting games, usually a cabinet-style stick is the best option, though a really good pad can work well too. Playing a flight sim without a flight stick is just not fun.

Most sensible people like to pick the best tool for the job. We can use the 360 gamepads on PC, so why can't we use a keyboard and mouse on the 360? Even if I had to buy a proprietary gaming board/mouse combo, I'd certainly consider it.

The main reason Consoles sell FPS games.. Or games in general better is because of exclusives. All the good games (Halo!) aren't being ported to PC..(I'm sure Micro$oft would sell a shitload if Halo and Gears were ported.) Kinect.. Have you seen their games? Shit.. All of it.

"Oooooh, bubble popper!"
