kingston hyperx predator heat question

hi I am just wondering whether it would be ok to fit lower heatsinks on to this memory link below

as my cpu cooler arctic cooling i30 wont allow tall memory im wondering if at the specified clock would a lower heatsink make them overheat

Unless you're severely overclocking your memory as well as your CPU and GPU, do not put in heatsinks unless absolutely necessary. In some tests on other forums/threads, there were increase in temperature due to extra material on the chips itself. Good luck!

Changing the fins on the RAM will probably invalidate the warranty. Just buy low profile RAM to begin with.

I don't mind losing warranty but the fact is no 2666mhz ram has low profile heatsinks to begin with

Does your motherboard support 2666MHz?

it supports up to 3200mhz

Could look at the GSkill Tridents, they are 5.4 mm tall but the upper fin is made so it can be removed, lowerin the height to 3.9 mm (remove two small screws and slide the upper fin off, they might run a negligible 2-3 degrees warmer

are the cas latencys good/fast?

and yes CL is good, it's 11, which is tight at 2666 😉

Yep, perfectly fine, the 1.5 recommendations is for sticks at the 1600 level, most all 2133 and above are 1.6-1.65 and many are certified by Intel at 1.65
