Hello.

I am in the market for a computer monitor. I was going to stick with a 1080p when the qnix qx2710 caught my eye. With IPS and 1440p, I was wondering if any of you own one. I will mainly be gaming (FPS, MOBA, etc.) and I was wondering if it was good for that. I also plan on general use.

Thank you!

Either one should be fine. They are both Samsung PLS panels with identical dynamic contrast ratios and brightness. The main differences I see is that the X-star has a response time of 8ms, while the Qnix response time is 6ms; and the X-star comsumes 45W/0.5W vs the Qnix 43W/0.5W. At this pricepoint, I feel those numbers are a moot point, and would go with what you can get a better deal on.

I think the deal breaker for me was the defective standard on those models. The X-star "acceptable" defective standard is 10 megapixels per panel, while Qnix is 5 (Zero if you buy the pixel perfect model). That means you could have up to 10 deal...

Would you suggest a different one or the QNIX?

They are all quite similar, but have different ports and warranties, just choose the one that fits your needs. The Overlord Tempest may be better as that is almost a guaranteed overclock to 120Hz.

Personally, I love my Qnix 2710. I received it within 36 hours of purchase (to my door) with ZERO dead pixels. Now I have it overclocked to 90Hz, but Im sure it could go higher.

One drawback on the Qnix is that in order to mount it, you have to remove the bezel and lift the screen to full remove the stand. I was hesitant at first, but a couple of Youtube videos later, I did it myself in under 10 minutes.

Actually, I looked at the seller on eBay (A reputable one for Korean monitors) and it said that the acceptable amount of dead pixels are 5. Really, I think 8ms is ok even for gaming, because I am not a highly competitive pro. 8 ms will suffice. For the price, I will probably go with the X-Star.

Sounds like a good choice then...best of luck... "welcome to the club"
