"a way of giving something back to such a supportive and skilled community of players."

what are they implying?

["a way of giving something back to such a supportive and skilled community of players."

what are they implying?]

They are implying that Koreans are funny little oriental real-time strategy fanatics who excel at Starcraft through some odd mix of cultural/racial tendencies towards obsessive-compulsive behavior, math skill, and rice-heavy diet.

USA cannot blackmail North Korea with commercial penalties, in order to abandon their nuclear program. Stop their access to battle.net for 48h and they'll give in, 100% guaranteed! ;D

Let's see. Sony sells 10 free downloads with their PSP Go in most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia. North America gets a measly 3, and not even the same selection.
Blizzard gives away Starcraft 2 in (south) Korea. North America gets to pay full price.
I'm seeing a trend where North Americans are getting F'd in the A by gaming companies.

Arglebargle:

I see your point but please take in to account that we in europe pay a 1 to 1 converted price for a lot of things a game that costs 50 usd costs 50 euro and it has been that way ever since the euro was introduced if possible even before that.

We over paid for years and all we got was a bunch of frikkin downloads.
I want dragon age origins awakening but i don't want to pay 40 euro for a digital download ... you guys can buy a disc kit for less then 20 usd!

I think Blizzard is working with CIA, what better way to lower Korea`s army and interest in any nuclear weapons and shit than nailing their children to their seats at the PC? in 30-50 years all the war that they`ll be doing will be online on battlenet. ^^

I smell fear here. Looks as if Blizzard is nervous about the Starcraft II capacity to replace Starcraft 1 in order to exploit the rights in pro gaming, which is about all of this is.

[citation][nom]jakew120[/nom]I don't think you understood. You can still just buy the game, but if you play WoW or were considering playing WoW, this is a better deal. Read next time.[/citation]
Unlike you, valcron understands the intent of this deal. Nowhere does valcron state you can't buy the game. Maybe you should read all the time.

Previously I would have said this is like giving out a free greasy burnt pie with every broccoli sold. (I'm a broccoli fan btw).
However, I think it's now more like giving out a free greasy burnt pie with every DRM'd unimaginative brocolli sold.

haha dont think WoW is as big as the original SC in korea, plus they have their own MMO, Lineage or something like that. This is just for Blizzard to kill 2 birds with one stone, get them hooked on SC2 and in the long run make more money on WoW.

[citation][nom]elbert[/nom]Blizzard knows their Korean WOW players will stop playing for more than 4 months. This in affect means Blizzard will loss money. No wonder Blizzard is going out of their way to ensure none of their titles compete against WOW.Due to the economy around the world this scenario will affect Blizzard in more areas than Korea.[/citation]

I was trying to rationalize why Blizzard would do this... and I think you hit the nail on the head.

Am i the only one who feels this is essentially a "/middlefinger" to the North American and Europe markets? You know, if they were doing something like giving them a free mousepad or something, i'd be ok with it, but now this has now become a matter of principal. I was already on the fence with buying SC2 since their little money grab of making you essentially buy 3 copies to access all the content, now i'm definitely not buying the game in any capacity. I just won't support a company who has unethical business practices.

Dropping wow and never going to buy another blizzard company product again. Good luck hating america some more. Oh not that I think you care
