Hello Guys. I've been following this platform for many years but never had a reason to register/post until now

My current build:
ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO
2x 8GB HyperX Fury 2666mhz
Ryzen 7 1700x
GeForce GTX 970 Windforce 3x

not sure how about the psu but that can also be upgraded if needed.
i'll have to open up the pc cus apparently the sticked on my cpu is not so easily accesible

i'm looking into upgrading my gpu as i've been having problems with games i wanna play,
i found an asus nvidia geforce gtx 1080 ti 11gb gddr5x which, based on my research, seems to be a decent gpu up to this date..
also, for an extra 100$ i can get a gigabyte rtx 3060 vision oc 12gb gddr6 rev2.0 lhr but i'm not sure if my motherboard is compatible with it.

my cpu seems to be still decent for my standards (i think?).. i'm not looking to play games on 4k ultra just yet.. i wanna be able to have playable fps (50-60) on 1080p for games such as rdr2, cyberpunk, hogwarts legacy

what advice would you guys have for a decent upgrade on minimum investment?
i'm thinking the gpu should be enough for what i need but i'm open to suggestions.
thanks

Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

GTX1080ti is an oldie but goodie.
It looks to be a bit stronger than the 3060.

Your motherboard should be compatible with either.
Your psu should be ok for either if it runs a gtx970.
