The 7800GTX 512 Line has been discontinued for a while now due to the release of the 7900GTX512 Suposedly released tomorrow at CEbit 3/9/06. reasons being that the 7900 is faster stronger and all much better and CHEEPER to make and CHEEPER for u and me! so they decided to just pull it and make ya wait cause you would regret buying a 899$ card 2 weeks befor a better 699$ or 599$ card came out. this 7900gtx release is supose to be a hard release so if its released tomorrow check your favorite online stores it should be on there.

ah, ok. that makes sense. i knew about the 7900's, but i didnt know that they were gonna discontinue the 512's. tx, been wanting 2 know for quite some time!

I thought the problem was nVidia was not able to cull enough 1.1ns GDDR RAM and were having quality control issues.
And the 7900 series is not much faster than the 7800, but it does indeed turn more of a profit...
I just don't like that philosophically...

They didn't discontinue the GTX-512, they just never increased their low production levels (still shipping to stores 2 weeks ago!).

The biggect problem with the GTX-512 was that 2GTs in SLi beat it for less money, the X1800XT was beating it in a few benchies for less money, and then the X1900XT came out and beat it even more for even less money.

Overall the card was simply a stab at staying in the race while waiting for the GF7900 to arrive.

Consider yourself lucky you never could order the GTX-512 as it probably would've ticked you off considering the price/performance level.

Wait 'til tomorrow, GF7900s are supposed to launch in wide avilability. You should be much happier.

Probably more of the later than the former. 1.1ns GDDR RAM problems, but not for the XTX which uses the exact same ram?

Funny there's a store in BC that's a launch partner and nV actually had them take a picture when they got their shipment a few weeks back so that they could 'prove' that they are being shippe. Now that's funny!

I called my contacts (on the 25th of Febuary cause I was going to purchase 3 of them) at Newegg, CDW, monarchcomputers, and i called XFX all of them said the same thing that the 7800 GTX 512 has been discontinued since Febuary the 20th
