So, how's everyone progressing? Not so much in terms of the ladder rankings,
as I don't really give a flying fig about those, but more in terms of what
you're making, what cool items you've found, etc.

Following on from some absolutely appalling lag (both ISP and battle.net
related), I have semi-retired my sorceress at 80, and have a summoning
necromancer and a versadin just now entering Hell difficulty. Plus I started
a barbarian, and have begun burning him in. He's around level 12. 🙂

well, my Enchantress is level 65 now (just gained 3 levels in 2 NM Baal
runs) and got a Duriel's Shell as gift..
She also traded for a Demon Machine (AMN + 2 PGems) and a Kuko Shakaku
bow, which will be a nice weapon for my Strafezon.

Insight in a Halberd really helps with the mana ball.. So now I'm looking
for a nice Merc armor like Duress..

Got all runes up to IO and am desperately looking for an UM.

My throw/double swing/frenzy barb (haven't decided yet) has been rushed
to NM, so I can mule off some stuff from my Enchantress. He's level 25
now.

I guess I'll start a Strafezon over the weekend, as an enchanted Strafe
will be a real killer in nightmare <g> .

Well, seems my modem had been corrupted which is what was resulting in
my constant 500-5000 ping spikes. In the process of reformating my
hard drive and setting everything back up, I discovered that while the
format did nothing, running the install CD from my ISP did fix the ping
spikes. So now I may be able to play without swearing all the time. :
)

As to my progress, I have an 81 fireball-forb sorc and a 79 smiter.
Neither of which are decked out all that well. Sorc has a Smoke Scarab
Husk, spirit long sword, rare circlet with +10 faster run walk, +20%
faster cast rate, and something like +22 mana. Amulet is the Rising
Sun amulet which I traded for which is probably the best item I've got.
Rings are something like rare dual resists with both in the 20-30%
range. Belt I think is a rare with resists. Has magefists for gloves.
Boots are rares with resists. Getting a few okay charms to flesh
things out a bit. Her merc's got a Hone Sundan with 2amn's and a
Shael. Think he might have some smoke armor too actually. His hat I
can't recall. Think it's the Undead Crown. It's got life leech on it.

Smiter is currently using a passion phase blade. Mainly because it's
faster then the demons limb he had been using, if not near as damaging
per hit.
He does have Souldrainers for gloves. Dual leech and weaken curse?
Why not! ; )
Boots are probably still sigons, belt is the demonhide sash? That one
with life leech and %damage reduction. Amulet is a prismatic one I
cubed together from some Gems. 19% res all and +91 life. Rings are
rares with like life leech and/or resists. I think his hat's still
Sigons. Shield is a 4pdiamond vortex shield. Only had like 6%res all
on the base, so it's lik 81res all total. I'm aiming to have an exile
shield for him eventually.
His merc's only level 35 or so, and is looking rather poor.
Battlebranch and Twitchthroe is about all he's wearing.

Anyway, that's about it for now.

I'm playing only hardcore ladder.

In my usual slow, plodding, hardcore style of play, I'm making the most of
normal difficulty, while I'm there. The good news is: despite the nasty
server lag since 1.11, I've yet to lose a character. 🙂

The bad news is: because I'm spending most of my time in normal, I've not
found much for items, although I'm getting by just fine.

In nightmare I have a BF'sin, BO barb, Enchantress, Summoner, Meteor / Orb
sorc, and a zeal / fanta Paladin.

Working their way through mid to late normal, I have a wolf, strafe / LS
zon, another zeal / fanta paladin, another orb / meteor sorc, and two mules
destined for nightmare luggage duty.

Most of my characters are wearing junk they've found, although I've managed
to score a few useful set items, and a couple of useable unique items.
Despite the lack of good items, my characters aren't struggling at the
moment. My biggest challenge so far has been to get my zon by Durial, but
when she quit using her bow, and decided to poke a big stick into the bug,
she wore him down 🙂

Most of my play so far has been solo, or with one or two others, in five to
eight player games, and I'm enjoying the game again, although I can't seem
to generate the fire I had for the game in the early days, through 1.09 (I
didn't like what 1.10 did to hardcore players, and 1.11 hasn't improved that
any, but I've learned to just deal with it)

Those chicks with dicks make the guys give up everytime. Theres
nothing like sexually wrestling with a hot chick and a huge slimy
(sexy) beetle, and to have it all ruined by the chick whipping out her
big rod. No wonder the beetle went down so easy after that.

My stable of characters:
Bongo_MF: Sorc L82, Meteor/Orb, Hell Diablo.
Bongo_Sorc: Sorc L74, Synergized Blizz, NM Baal.

I've been running Hell Mephy with my MFer, trying to equip everyone. Did 37
runs with 152 MF when I found a Wizzy, which let me rearrange my gear and
pump MF to 310. Did another 43 runs. So far it has been raining bows,
including:
Magewrath
Demon Machine
Skystrike x2
Cliffkiller
Riphook
Plus a few Rogues, Arctic and Vidalia's that I didn't even pick up. Add
these to the Burito I found while questing and I'm getting a strong signal
that the gods want me to build a Bowazon, hence the L26 Zon.

One of the funny quirks of MFing, Mephy dropped Venom Grips three times in a
row.

I've found some nice stuff. I've got a whole mule full of things to
socket once I actually get all the runes. I've got good enough eq to
actually (I totaled it up last night) carry 402 mf on my necro. I could
up that to close to 500 if I was to use chance guards, goldwrap and
another mf ring.

I've got Sigons full set, Cathans full set, half the IK set, some Mavs
set, lot's of low and mid level uniques, but not a single uber item
yet.

Unfortunately, the game is becoming boring once again. I guess that is
part of why I enjoy playing the Chaos Empire mod more, there is a
better ratio of finds to time spent looking for stuff.

Do you mind in CE you find stuff more often, or less often? What ratio
is this? I don't have CE...

Do you mind in CE you find stuff more often, or less often? What ratio
is this? I don't have CE...

You find or gamble stuff in CE a lot easier. There's also a lot more
stuff to fine as well. For instance if you see a green ring in regular
LOD you know it's going to be Cathans. In CE it could be any of 40 or
so rings from different sets.

Yes, it was good to get Clay's druid plumped up so more also, on those runs.

Just so you can have a good laugh at my season 3 noobishness, here's the gear
that TheLagMonster is currently wearing (c' n' p'ed from another thread)

As is traditional for poor saps, mine is currently decked out in the ultimate
of leet gear:

Lore mask

Resist/MF amulet (and Clay said he found a +3 summoning necklace today, so
that's an option)

Vipermagi

Store bought +3 summoning skills wand

Rhyme in a randomly selected necro handbag (in fact, it's the ONLY 2 socket
necro handbag with any kind of +skills on it that I've seen, in 210-220
combined character levels of questing in season 3).

Some magic belt with about 70 life

Magic gloves with 20 something lightning resistances and 20 something MF

Rare boots with resists and MF

And I'll be damned if I can remember what rings he has.

And yet, he still kicks all kind of lag resistant ass.

Check the public account. I've been dumping some stuff there recently.
Nothing great, but maybe better 'junk' than the 'junk' you're currently
using.

Would you (and Cinna) mind adding me to your /f list (Bongo-Fury)? I've seen
you on a few times, but you weren't in the usual games, and I couldn't
figure out the names.

DUH !!! Sorry, didn't realize that I'd neglected to do that. My f-list
hasn't changed since 1.10, I should probably fix that soon. I'll do that
this evening.

If I make the game, it's always AGDHC, or a variation of "Spook" if I'm just
muling or something., and you know the passwords that I use in either case.
If Cinna makes the games, only God and Diablo know what game name she might
use, and they aren't talking. Remind me next time I see you, and I'll tell
you the passwords she uses. She only uses two, so it's pretty easy to guess
once you know her habits 🙂

If our hurricane hangs around a bit longer, maybe I can get in some play
time this weekend :LOL

Well, I finally broke down and got the patch when I decided to update my old
characters--why I don't know. Anyway, I decided to start a HC barb (of
course), who's currently level 23 and only totes a couple of rares. He's
found a couple of set items--Arctic Furs and the Death's Hand gloves,
neither of which he now uses--and nary a single unique. He has had a bit of
luck finding some fairly useful charms, though, and that's probably the only
thing to save his ass on a couple of occasions. Heh, his battle with Duriel
was as touch-and-go as any I've ever had with ol' bugass, and was sure he
was a goner at least twice.

And this lag you all have been talking about is, indeed, a real bitch. It's
nothing at all like I've ever seen before, what with this thing of having
normal gameplay, then all at once being instantly surrounded by what seems
like every baddy within three screens who just pop up from nowhere with nary
a warning. This will almost assuredly get this guy killed, since I don't
see any way to anticipate it, unlike most of the forms of lag we've dealt
with in the past. Oh well, that's the way the tractor pulls, I guess.
