Lag spikes while gaming using a range extender

So i'll start from the beginning(~1 month ago)

My laptop couldn't connect to my router so i started messing with some of the router settings. Seeing that it doesn't work i figured it should be a virus/malware but since my anti virus couldn't find anything i formatted my pc.

After that everything was working great until i went away for my vacations. After i cameback and tried to play league of legends, i experienced continuous lag spikes.

I've been using my range extender for almost 2 months and when i try to play directly through my router it's all good.

I already tried to try and play close to the extender but I get the same results.

I already tried to reset my router configurations and it's still the same results.

I don't know what to do help me please

I'm not a networking expert, but; I have had similar issues not long ago where my wireless was dropping connections to devices, and sometimes being slow.
What it turned out to be was interference - probably with other wireless routers in the neighborhood. I switch the "channel" or "band" of the signal within the router's wireless settings. The default was 1, so I went to 6 and tried that for a while. Never had a problem since.
Try changing the channels on the wireless, and a different one even on the range extender (if you can).
Let me know if this helps.

But the point here is that, this range extender(Belkin Dual Band Range Extender 2.4GHz) didn't behave like this in the past and only start behaving like this now. I'm going to try to change the channel on my router. But i don't see how that will help since my router has no problems or lag spikes at all, only my range extender.

Sorry about that, it works if i'm in the division where the router is. It doesn't work anywhere for the extender, i still get lag spikes.

In my room i get a weak signal from the router but a full one from the extender but i still get lag spikes

So any other suggestions? T_T

So it's working fine with no lag spikes if your in the same room as the router?
Where is the extender located? If it's in the same room as you, it's getting to weak of a signal to extend - it should be close enough to the router to have a strong enough signal to extend it.

Try sitting beside the router and use it without the extender. If you're not getting lag spikes, then try a different range extender (sometimes updating it's firmware might work). If you're still getting lag spikes, then you have to talk to your service provider as they may be having problems.

Just updated the firmware but still nothing....

Should i turn off my router/extender and try again later? Would that have a chance to fix it? I have no idea right now since my extender worked 1 month ago and now it's giving me problems..

Leaving them off for 20 seconds is enough to test to see if that works.
It's really hard to trouble shoot network problems like this, especially wireless. Wireless can be working fine one day, and the next not. Something as silly as the seasons changing can change the magnetic field of the earth so that there ends up being more interference where you live. The extender may be failing.
The game server you're playing could have changed addresses and now you're connection has many more hops to travel to the server allowing for more chances of connection timeouts. This could be fine with just using the router, but as soon as you add another 'hop' to the extender, it now becomes just slow enough to cause problems.
The game servers themselves could be having problems. Do you have another game to test?
I personally don't use wireless because of these problems. Plus your ping is always better with a wired connection.

I've been troubleshooting and exploring all possible sources to the problem.

I tried different games and they all lag alot more than what they used to.

I ran a speed test and curiously it still gives me like 10mb/s like it used to.

I tried to move the extender to different points, i moved the router a little to enhance the range.

And I'm only using wireless because it's the only possibility right now.

I'm going to turn off the router/extender again and see if it solves anything..

You're problem isn't how much you can download at a time (10mb/s). It's how long the signal is taking to get from point A to point B.
When you do a speed test to different locations, what is your Ping time. When playing online games, a ping that > 130 ms is starting to be too much of a delay to be responsive enough.
Another problem is, "lag spikes" is something that doesn't happen all of the time. So you could do a speed test most of the time and you have a low ping, but you'd have to catch it when it's "spiking" in order to see what you ping is.
If you're still having troubles with only the extender, then that's the source of your problem.
Test playing the game with just the router for over an hour. If you never get any problems that way, you need a new extender - a better one.
