I am not sure since when the problem began and if it's related to Windows 10, but opening any type of file became very laggy.

I am talking about a PC with SSD and i7 that used to open everything instantly.

Nowadays, if I click on an image, it takes about 5 seconds (showing like it's thinking) and then only then opening the app that will open that file. That second part is very quick as it used to be.
It's like there's something that is being loaded before it opens the app.

Happens with everything, even TXT files!

I don't have antivirus nor defender enabled.

How could I find the reason for that?

Thanks

I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything like that, but if you can't find anything on Google or Youtube, then you'll hardly find anyone here with the same issue. In which case you should really at least consider the possibility of either reinstalling Windows or a hardware problem.

No fights of course. Thanks for your input anyway :)
I would probably not reinstall Win, just because the problem is NOT that a huge deal.

But ideally I want to find a way to trace these kind of issues. like a flow of processes and then I can see myself what is being loaded and what is creating the lag.

So if you have no AV running, do you have any malware protection at all? I would run a scan just in case.

The problem could be your ssd as where else is it loading the files from? I assume the boot speed is about 37 seconds.

positive defender isn't running as it will enable itself if you have no AV running. If Defender is running, it can cause lag as it scans every file on open, http://www.tenforums.com/antivirus-firewalls-system-security/34327-programs-slow-open-due-windows-defender-msmpeng.html

I have no malware. I checked this. Defender is disabled completely. I checked your link, completely unrelated..
As mentioned multiple times... in safe mode it's working fine.
It's like I double click on a document, it will do something first for couple of seconds for the first time (I see it's thinking) and only then it will load the app with the document. The loading of the app is instant. I need to know what happens before loading of the app that I need.. uf..

I don't know what do you mean by boot time is 37 seconds and what this has to do with the issue :)

I'm not trying to look like a monk or a smart ass, but it sounds to me like you're trying to discover everything about the arrow that's just hit someone, instead of pulling it out in the first place. It's Tibetan wisdom, something I read in a book by a psychologist written through a series of interviews with Dalai Lama.

I get your point, I get it, but if it'd happened to me, I would've at least reinstalled Windows by now to see if it would cure the problem, but that's probably just my lazy side coming out of me as usual.

Well, if safe mode cured it, then reinstall definitely would.. I'm gonna try again to disable tasks one by one to see if there's a difference

Ok, everyone. I went wild on uninstalling and cleaning up running services and etc. and it works MUCH better. Though, I think not as super instant as it was when I just got it. But generally, I am satisfied.

So it was one of the running processes causing it probably..

The problem seems to be back again for a while now. What I discovered suddenly is that when I am offline then the problem doesn't occur.
Another thing is I was at a hotel with a terrible internet connection. There the problem was much much stronger. It took about 30 seconds each time.

I am starting to think that when the file is being opened something is going online. I don't manage to find anything in the task manager.
I have no antivirus installed and defender is completely disabled..
