Okay.. Unfortunately.. My cat decided to jump on the table and knock over a cup of hot coffee onto my Lenovo t420.. I managed to clean and air dry whatever I could, I do not have a screwdriver to access the internal components unfortunately.. And my issue is that..

I get no response from any battery I put in, (I've tried 3 different ones)..

The AC Adapter (plugged into an outlet or power bar) give me the exact same result, a flickering battery light which goes off within 2 seconds.

I managed to turn the laptop on 2 days ago, but when I put it in sleep mode, it wouldn't come back on, but the battery light was always on.

I have already done what most people recommended.. Which was remove the battery and AC, hold the power button for 1 minute and attempt to turn it back on after everything is back in place.. Still the same result, flickering battery light.

I've come to tomshardware because I am literally stuck and this laptop is all I have left. I also fear that my motherboard is damaged and if so, I'm probably going to cry.

Thanks in advance.. Any help would be Greatly Appreciated.

OK, first off, assume you've lost it and it's dead. Do you have another machine? Remove the HDD from the laptop and backup any data that you may want to keep.

It doesn't sound completely dead, but it does sound like there is residue that is causing problems.

You'll need a screwdriver, you'll need isopropyl alcohol, some swabs (preferably lint free so they leave no residue).

Look up how to dismantle your machine on the internet, and take it to pieces (remember how it came apart), remove the battery, hope that there are no capacitors providing a residual voltage. Use the swabs and alcohol to clean everywhere that coffee went. Allow it to dry.

Reassemble and cross you fingers.

Be warned that this may not work, but it can't be...
