A few months ago, a friend gave me an old HP Pavilion laptop with a broken LCD. I purchased a new panel and outfitted the computer with Linux for my son to use as a research laptop when he goes to speech and debate competitions. All was good until a few weeks ago when the display suddenly went "green" and very grainy. I opened the laptop up, disconnected the ribbon cable from the back of the panel, reconnected it and all was good again...for a few days. Now it's stuck in the green and grainy state and reseating the cable has no effect.
This is the panel I ordered
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VW4Q0Y/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
the laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6 (core i3 "entertainment PC")
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
