Question Laptop hard drive file recovery

Hello Ive recently purchased a USB SATA cord to recover files from two laptops that have left this world the oldest is about 6 yrs , however when I plug them in and click on the correct drive in devices all I get is system "applications" and "drivers" unlike what Ive seen on several youtube videos where all the photo's videos are recoverable and this happens to both LT drives. The laptops died and where simply put aside and replaced.

Has anyone had this problem before and if so could you please advise .

What are you trying to connect these drives to, and how?

Connection is through the USB SATA cord to my new ACER laptop and yes Youtube was totally useless

It's not clear / straightfoward what you try to say, please take screenshots and show us in pictures! If I'm right, it is a simple permission issue (assuming the showing hidden files option is on): Google for "take ownership", install the reg file to the right click menu and apply on the recoverable drive! Reboot the computer and your files and folders will show up as intact as they were.
