Question Laptop Heatsink screws are stuck

Hello



I am new to this form. Last week i tried to open my gaming laptop to change the thermal paste. I tired using common screwdriver to open laptops heatsink screws but the screws won't even turn. I tried the rubber band method but It didn't work. I also stripped a screw while trying to open the screws.



also tried different screwdrivers but they didn't work. If you have any screwdriver-size recommendations i can try to buy them, but note that there aren't many screwdrivers available in my country.



Laptop model is ASUS TUF GAMING 2023 FA507NU

Hey there,

It looks like they are Torx screws. You need to get a full precision set of screwdrivers. Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-S...=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9zZWFyY2hfdGhlbWF0aWM&th=1

I have this set, and they are pretty good. Nice amount of tork on the head. Keep in mind, this set is for laptops. Not dekstops where the amount of torque needed to turn the screws will be much more than for a laptop.

It is the same but black colored. They have been using the same case since 2022 model tuf laptops.

I tried using torx screwdriver but it made the screws worse.

Even if i found the correct screwdriver size the heatsinks wont open becouse screws are too tight. I tried applying heat but it didnt help. I also tried the baloon and plastic band method. Basicly no help either. I tired everything and the screws are now stripped. I do not want to send it to the offical service becouse it takes 2 weeks to arrive. If i cant find a solution i will have to.
