I've had this HP Envy x360 laptop for about a year now, and the noisy hard drive is really annoying. I first noticed a few weeks after i bought it, the hard drive would make these loud clicky noises. The main problem is I'm in high school and use the laptop everyday in school, so the noise just disturbs a lot of people. Is there anything I could do to make it quieter. I noticed 'Service Host' was usually taking up most of my disk (90%+), but even when my disk was at 0-5% the hard drive was still well audible. I've seen those hard drive enclosures, but I don't know how I cold apply that on a laptop. :/ Please help

Solution
If it was noisy from new, either it was defective originally, or it is just...loud.

Not really much you can do to change that except for an SSD.
If you want absolute quiet - replace the internal hard drive with a SSD. There are no moving parts and it will give a huge performance boost, both in speed and battery life. Depending upon the size of files you store on the laptop, you can go with a 128GB - 256GB SSD for $50 - $100.

Upgrade to an SSD. No moving parts and they're alot faster and don't generate nearly as much heat. If you don't have any income to dispose on an upgrade, there's not much you can do to make a HDD quieter.

That's like tummy growling in public! 😀

While ur saving for that SSD, when you are not doing anything, not downloading, or just staring at something, ur HD should hardly come on, a blink every few seconds fine but no more than that. You may have INDEXING turned on, or defrag scheduled for the wrong times.
