Hi I have a razer deathadder 3500 dpi and just recently it has stopped working with my laptop, dell xps 15 l521x. When I plug in the mouse, I get an error "USB Device Not Recognized". The blue scroll light on the death adder lights up, but that is it. What makes this confusing is that I know the deathadder mouse is not broken because it works and functions perfectly on my computer downstairs.

Also, I know that the usb ports on my dell xps 15 are working because my cooling pad is working when plugged in.

Lastly, the dell xps 15 seems to only recognize dell-branded mouses because when I plugged in the dell mouse it worked. When I plug in my razer death adder and another mouse that I have (not a dell mouse), both times the light turn on but the mouse does not function.

I am so confused right now and any help would greatly be appreciated, Thanks in advance!

What OS are you using? Did it update before the mouse connection failed? A cooling pad do not work to test if a USB input is working or not because it only use the power lines and no data channel.
I assume your OS updated and override the current driver of you mouse. Just the old driver and software of your mouse, go to the official site of the manufacturer and download the lastest driver.

I am using windows 7. I do not think it updated before the mouse connection failed although I am not sure because the mouse was unplugged overnight and maybe it updated then? Also I am struggling to find the latest driver download for my razer deathadder 3.5G. Could someone show me how to get there please? Thanks so much for the help and i really hope i can get this problem fixed!

What really confuses me is that if I plug the razer deathadder into my desktop downstairs nothing is wrong and it works perfectly.... and I never needed to update anything on there ? Also, I have 3 mouses that ive tested on this laptop. Both the razer deathadedr and another 5 doller mouse dont work. While the third mouse, a 5 year old dell on works perfectly. Thanks so much the help much appreciated!!!!!!

I downloaded what appears to be called Razer Synapse and when i opened the program it just says "Please Connect A Razer Synapse 2.0 enabled device". I dont see any driver downloads or am i stupid and did something wrong? Thanks again!

Download this: http://www.razerzone.com/synapse2
Go to Control Panel, Hardware and sound, Manage devices. Look for a triangle with a '!' and if it from your mouse (or it says 'USB bla bla bla'), uninstall it and go back to the Panel control, Uninstall a program. Look for 'Razer bla bla driver/software' and uninstall it. If you do not find anything, don't worry. Restart you PC.
Now install the Razer Synapse and the start again the last program.

Still having the same problem=(. I dont think razer synapse does anything because i open it up and it just tells me to "please connect a razer synapse 2.0 enabled device". I think since my computer does that recognize the mouse when its plugged razer synapse also cannot detect it? I am sooo confused right now!

Did you uninstall all the drivers?
Let's make total sure it is the OS and not the USB port or the mouse! Pick a pendrive of at least 4GB, backup all the data, download Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (64-bit) link and Universal USB Installer link. Run the USB Installer and select the ISO of Ubuntu, select Ubuntu 12.04 (maybe .03 or .04) LTS and the USB parition (D: or E:).
Let the USB plugged and restart the computer, keep pressing F9 and boot through the USB. Use the option 'test Ubuntu', wait it load and plug the mouse. Does it work?

What do you mean uninstall ALL the drivers? Should I go to device manager an uninstall everything? Thanks again

Gah that Ubuntu download is 3 hours , it it worth doing?

Noooooooo! I meant backup all the data from the pendrive, save everything that is inside the pendrive in the HDD before formating it.
You should uninstall the drivers of the Razer Mouse, and not all the drivers.

Did you go to Device manager and uninstalled the drivers of the mouse? If not, do it.
Ubuntu is worth it. But feel free to stop/cancel the download and we can find other routes.

There are no drivers for the razer mouse under device manager. Here is a picture of my device managers http://tinypic.com/r/xnzsco/8. Any idea on what to do? The 4gb usb pendrive installed perfectly when i pluged it in!

Unplug the mouse, uninstall the driver for the Unkown device, restart the PC and plug the mouse.

Yeah, definitely I suggest you to download Ubuntu. Did you fully understand how to install it in the pendrive and then boot through the pendrive?

When I unplug the mouse, the uknown device in device manager dissapears. Also I have no other choice so ill download Ubuntu tonight. To download it i just click the link you gave me? Thanks
