SAMSUNG laptop with intel i3 and windows 7. model #np300e5a-a02ub according to label found underneath the laptop. have not done any updates or made changes to the laptop prior to the issue. i do not believe the computer is equipped with SSD hard drive.

i've had this laptop for years (maybe 5+?) and have recently started using it at work.

it has worked flawlessly for the past year or so. on friday, i shut it down like i usually do and came into work on monday and started it. the main SAMSUNG boot screen that shows up with the F2 for setup and F4 for recovery comes up and does not go away. hitting the F2 or F4 key does nothing.

i looked for a solution to this on my phone and attempted to remove the battery, and hold down the power button for 20+ seconds. reinstalled battery, connected the power cord, and started.

i've got the computer started now, but am afraid to shut it off. do the steps i've taken to get the computer started point to part going bad?

any help is appreciated. would like to avoid buying a new laptop.

It may need to be reloaded with Windows 7 or Windows 10. Sometimes the Bootmgr can have problems and get stuck with the boot screen. Assuming you have the legitimate copy of Windows 7 you'll have a product key which you can use to type to activate Windows. Since you don't want to buy a new laptop that may be your best bet. You're able to get a ISO (Disc Image) of the Windows 7 legitimately.

now that i've got the computer started what are the chances of the bootmgr having problems again? and at the point that the problem does occur again and im unable to start the computer, how would i go about using the windows 7 disc to reload windows 7 (by reload do you mean repair? or a clean reinstall?) if i cannot access bios to change boot sequence?
