So I have an Acer Aspire 5250. It used to be blazing fast and good for the price but some of they keys fell of and got lost. So we sent it back and they gave us a refurbished one but now thing thing is hella slow takes forever to load pages.. Freezes easily.. Can't watch any videos in fullscreen or in HD without lag and I used to be able to do that all easily even play minecraft on low settings fine. I reinstalled Windows 7 and that didn't help either. Any idea what it could be? I am guessing its a component is it the HDD or what is a very slow system a sign of? the HDD is 500GB and it has 4gb of ram and AMD Radeon HD 6320 Graphics along with a dual core CPU.

I'm not an expert on computers by any stretch of the imagination but normally a hard drive would not effect the computer's speed in any way significantly. The specs seem to be plenty fast enough to handle HD videos fine so I'm not sure exactly what the problem is but check task manager and look in processes to see if there are any processes that look like they are taking a suspicious amount of your cpu or ram's memory.

1. Is the refurbished replacement the same model? (Aspire 5250)...
2. what CPU model does it have, and is it the same CPU as the one in the computer you sent back?
3. How long has the computer been used?

If it's the same model it should have the same CPU... and if not, that may explain the issue. That info would help determine if the issue is hardware or software related.

Yes it is the same CPU and I am almost 100% sure its hardware related. I tried windows 8 and 7 still super slow and freezes easily not to mention webpages load very slow. The computer is sooo laggy.

OK, the reason I asked if it was the same CPU is because the Aspire 5250 had one of three CPUs, two E series, the E-450 1.65Ghz, the E-300 1.30Ghz and the C-50 with only 1.0Ghz. And even the E-450 is a slow CPU by today's standards, and if the replacement has one of the slower CPUs, that would explain the slowness... could also be due to it being refurbished, or both causes. You have to make sure which CPU it has and if it's the E-300 or C-50 it would be better that you return it and maybe make a deal for a faster computer, different model and faster CPU/APU.

Acer Aspire 5150 Processors:
AMD Dual-Core Processor E-300 (1.30GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
AMD Dual-Core Processor E-450 (2 x 512KB L2 cache, 1.65GHz)
AMD Dual-Core Processor C-50 (1.0GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 1000MHz FSB)

For software related issues, which is possible though not very likely, these tips would help to some degree depending on the type of issue.

Sorry for late reply and according to windows it is the AMD E450 and that is the processor it was soposed to come with.

So, it's the faster of the APUs used in the computer model. If it was slow from the first time you started it up, since it was refurbished, did you check how long it was previously used? You can check the installation date in:

Start / search or Run command / type CMD and press Enter... in the command prompt window type or copy/paste:
cmd /k systeminfo | find "Original Install Date" This should show the original install date and time... next check the last registered date it was used before you got it.. Look in the user files, installed programs that you did not install, temp files that you did not create or cause... Start / Search bar, type "%temp%" (without quotes) and press Enter... If you can determine the date when it was last used before you got it, that may help determine if there's a chance that Windows is full of system trash or possibly infected, and if it needs some Windows maintenance or even a OS reinstall... The AMD E-450 Processor speed/performance is in a range where processors can work ok when the OS is recently installed or kept relatively clean but as soon as the OS starts loading up with residual temp and other system files, history, cookies, etc.. they start slowing down to the point that you have to wait for them to catch up and be ready for you to continue using them. That's why I suggested you tried exchanging the computer for one with a faster processor.

The AMD E450 is about as fast as a Intel Pentium D Processor 950 which was released early 2006, so it's basically a newish CPU with 2006 functionallity.

I reinstalled windows so that probably won't help and also the computer came with new windows also.

In that case the computer either has hardware issues or insufficient installed RAM... If installed RAM is adequate, it should run normally without any load to slow the CPU and RAM down... if that's not happening, there's deffinitely something wrong with it... and the only option left is a second return to the seller... I would suggest negotiating a different and faster model... but if that's out of the question, make sure they at least send you a fully tested replacement.

I know it is a hardware issue just trying to figure out what part. Also the warranty expired and I want to replace the broken part itself so I dont have to waste money on a new laptop. According to windows it has 4 gb of ram wich is what the computer was soposed to come with.

Well, it's either of the removable components: RAM, Hard Drive, CPU, CPU Cooler... motherboard components are not replaceable. What you need to do is:
1. Check that RAM modules are installed correctly.
2. The Hard Drive: If you have a spare try it.
3. CPU is probably not it, unless it's overheating.
4. Check the CPU cooler fan speed in the BIOS

Hello.. this is late but I think I finally found my problem and would like advice on how to proceed. So basically my CPU is under 100% almost 24/7 and with only 1 program open its at 100%.. like only 10 processes also. Here is a screenshot from SpeedFan
GOCDswk.png
as you can see its at 80% and I have 0 programs open execpt anti virus..

I'm pretty sure those CPUs are not replacable, but it may be a RAM issue, try different RAM. Although for how slow those systems are you may be better off just replacing the system with a used Core i3 or i5 laptop. You can get a decent Core i5 system for about $130-200 for a first few generations of CPU, if you go for a higher end business model, a used 4 year old system will be much better than a new low end laptop like yours.

Does it go to 100% when in safe mode?
I just had an issue with a laptop that was doing this. It would get stuck at boot with black screen and white cursor and then after booting finally it would be dog slow. CPU was at 100% even is safe mode. Was driving me crazy until I unplugged the power cord and it booted immediately and ran normally. It turned out that the Ethernet card driver was causing the problem and disabling the Ethernet card was the only fix.

picture of task manager. Also the first screenshot I posted showed tempatures. Also I just noticed on SpeedFan all my fans are at 0 RPM..... Only programs open in this pic are google chrome btw. All the processes are just from Windows

"The processor detected is not supported.
AMD E-450 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics"
I just got that error trying to run RealTemp on my laptop

not sure, how do I check. Also do you think SpeedFan saying that all my fans are running at 0rpm is an issue?

Again, it would help if you would show the list of running processes.

Check your CPU performance rating here:
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=AMD+C-50&id=242

It's in the range of old single core processors; Pentium 4, Athlon XP, Sempron, Celeron, etc. it may be a dual core but it's clock speed is 1.0 Ghz and it runs on 9 watts... So, that explains part of the problem... but it looks like the CPU is also running hot (Core 62ºC with only 9 watts? very strange), and you also mentioned that only Chrome runs on your system.... that may be caused by bugs so run Malware, Adware and virus scans. See if running in safe mode makes any difference, also download QTWeb browser it's small and portable and may be immune to whatever bug is in your system and if it's not that should be proof enough that there's an infection causing your problems.

Also post images of the HWiNFO sensors report and an image of the Taskmanager processes tab so we can see which process is taking up high CPU and RAM usage.

EDIT:
1. On the comment on the CPU temp; Seems that it's Maximum operating temperature is 90°C, so 62ºC may not be enough to make it throttle down... but the question still remains why it heats up to 62ºC with only 9 watts?.. maybe it's not being cooled efficiently.

2. Check the Windows Control Panel > Power options > Power Plan > Default is the Balanced plan... change to the High Performance plan and see if it makes a difference.
