i know this is a long shot but does anyone know a cheat laptop that can run new games like crysis 3 on high or medium for about £500.
i saw a lot of great laptops for like £600 but they are from US and you have to pay like £200 import charges. i need a laptop that you can buy in the UK
please give me a link if you can

Crysis 3 is just about the most demanding game currently out for both CPU and GPU. For around £500 you can get a laptop with a nVidia GT 740m graphics card which is not considered bad. It's more or less equal to the GT 650m from the previous generation. However, Crysis 3 uses more 2 than 2 cores so a quad core CPU will provide better performance than a dual core CPU.

I am not familiar with e-tailers / retailers in the UK but from www.dabs.com, the following are laptops between £500 and £600 which has the GT 740m, but only dual core CPUs. If you want a faster GPU / quad core CPU or both, then you need to increase your budget.

will this one run it? because it says those laptops are quad core
thank you for the answe

Those are quad cores CPUs (AMD calls them APUs), however, those laptops only has integrated graphics (inside the CPU). The Radeon HD 8550G is the most powerful integrated graphics core of those laptops and it pales in comparison to the performance of the GT 740m. It's like waging war with spitballs.

Despite the fact those laptops I provided links to only have dual core CPUs, they will provide far better performance with medium quality graphics than those laptops with AMD APUs. Each Intel core is more powerful than each AMD core; assuming the same clockspeed.

ok so i can increase my budget to about £800, i was thinking of getting the lenovo y500.
do you know a better one for that prices?
also i want to see if i can get a msi gaming laptop http://www.msi.com/product/nb/#/?sk=Gaming Series
but i cant find any in the UK websites

this the the lenovo i want to buy http://www.very.co.uk/lenovo-y500-intelreg-coretrade-i7-processor-16gb-ram-1tb-hard-drive-156-inch-laptop-with-2gb-dedicated-graphics-charcoal-black/1281650808.prd?_requestid=12538 will i be able to run crysis 3 on high?

i used this website to see if the lenovo is good and it look like it http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-710M.84746.0.html
its first on second class.

The Y500 has a GT 750m which is more powerful than the GT 740m, but unfortunately you are not going to be able to run the game with high graphic settings. To the best of my knowledge, the Y500 comes standard with a 1920x1080 resolution screen. You would likely need to play the game at 1366x768 to even have a chance to play with high graphics settings. As stated, Crysis 3 is currently the most demanding gaming on the market. Even a $2,000 USD PC will struggle to play it with high (max) graphic settings at 1920x1080 resolution.

The following chart should help you understand. The GT 750m would more or less be equivalent to the GT 660m. The GT 660m is only capable of getting 26 FPS when the resolution is 1366x768, graphics are set to "high" and with 16xFA (maximum Anisotropic Filtering), and FXAA (maximum Anti-Aliasing). Lowering FA and AA will help increase frame rates. The source is from the following site and it is in German so you will need to translate it with Google if you want to read it.

The Y500 is a popular laptop given it's price/performance ratio. I would look for a model with only 8GB because 16GB is excessive. You won't need that much unless you are using programs that requires a lot of RAM like PhotoShop or very large databases. The most RAM I've seen a game use is around 1.5GB to 1.7GB.
