Question Laptop turns on but screen display is black, then it turns off

Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my laptop, and I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions.

After leaving the laptop turned off overnight (approximately 8 hours), it fails to boot properly in the morning. When I try to power it on, the LED lights turn on and the fans start spinning, but the screen display doesn't turn on and the laptop shuts off after a few seconds. The only way i found to get it to boot normally is to have the battery inserted and to press and hold the power button for at least one minute.

I tested leaving it off overnight with and without the battery, but the issue persists regardless. After it's on, i use the laptop through the entire day without a problem. The problem doesn't happen if it’s turned off and on right away. The problem only occurs when it's after a long period (overnight). I have also tested trying to turn it on without the battery and using only the charger (AC adapter) plugged in and it didn't make a difference.
The fans are working properly and are no signs of overheating.

Has anyone experienced similar behavior or have any recommendations on troubleshooting this? Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You forgot to mention the make, model and SKU for your laptop.

If the ram on your laptop isn't soldered on, disconnect from the wall and the internal battery, disassemble the laptop, remove the stick(s) of ram, use an eraser to wipe the gold contacts on ram stick(s), wipe clean off of any eraser lint.

While the laptop is in this state, press and hold down the power button on your laptop for 30secs to drain any residual power, then reseat ram stick(s), then power with the power brick. Then power down and then reseat the laptop battery and power it without the power brick hooked up.

I'm leaning on your laptop having a grounding issue, namely your wall outlet is devoid of grounding.

Thanks.
My laptop is a Acer Aspire E1-572_0775_V2.14.

I followed your procedure cleaning the ram sticks and the problem still persists.
My wall outlet does have the grounding, but my charger only has two prongs in the plug, the third one was removed so it could fit the outlet (that was an old problem in my country with many different shapes of outlet, so we often used to remove the third plug so it can fit).

Do you think that's the problem and i should get a new charger? I mostly use the laptop without the battery, only plugged directly into the wall, but the problem still persists even using the battery.
