So I recently just finished my build, but before I head out and buy it, I justed wanted to see what you guys think of it. As for the expensive prices, Australia. Thanks!

No it isn't. Does it have the same amount of cores? Yes. Does it have the same stock BCLK and Vcore? Yes. Does it have the same amount of memory cache? Yes. The only difference is the clock speed. That does not mean that one CPU is more powerful than the other. If the i5-6500 were a hex core with a higher memory cache than the i5-6400, then I would agree with you, but they don't. And the differences are too small to notice. They have the exact same lifespan. To say otherwise is not accurate.

I feel like you're taking way too hard a stance on this for the sake of argument. I fully admit that the difference in performance/lifespan would be minimal. But saying that performance/lifespan would be exactly the same is no less inaccurate.

But whatever, this is irrelevant to the point I was trying to make. I wasn't saying "get an 6500 because it will last longer", I was trying to say "if there were a difference in longevity between a 6500 or a 6400 w/ aftermarket cooler, it would probably be in favour of the former, not the latter". I was simply countering the advice that getting the 6400 w/ cooler was somehow a more forward-looking build.

Well you may be right, but as a person with an irrational hate of stock coolers (I personally feel like they're good for the test boot then to be recycled) I'd spent the $30 to not have one.

Also, I guess I'm the only one concerned about all those unused Molex power connectors dangling unused on this non-modular psu!
