W10 is pretty smooth, I like the interface but I intend to go back to W7 and use it until Linux becomes the perfect OS because... reasons.

Oh wait, yeah, MS reports stuff and it's like bad. They even anonymously compile the number of pictures I looked at.

On a serious note, I wish people would quit parroting misinformation.
Is W10 perfect? No.
Is it perfectly fine, dare I say "great" for most people? Yes.
Are these spying/reporting issues a big deal? IMO, No. (in fact, many are used to provide feedback to improve the OS)

alot of people have been saying that about Linux and its infinite number of distro's for more than 30 years now so expect to be waiting a really long time before Linux is anywhere close to the perfect alternative to windows

You must be crazy if you think MS is sitting and collecting your photos and other stuff from your PC ... let`s just make it simple. .200+ million Win10 users each having drives from 250 GB to like in my case 7 TB of drive space, do you have any clue what`s the space required on MS side to just collect your crap ? I mean .. why would they even care at what you are looking, they might as well do Youtube2 or Facebook 2 to have you post your crap willingly. They collect usage data to make your OS more stable as they possibly can, and see which apps are used and worth spending dev time or not, but like always we have the tin foil hat guys.

And be our guest, go Linux, as good as the OS is for sys admins it the opposite as bad for regular users with their tons of distros and people arguing all the time which one is better, never find one that actually does sh**t done. Hard issue solving with the need of lots of forums browsing and learning how to input tons of terminal commands that the majority have no clue what they are doing.

I`m all in for competition but Linux is far from being a competitor to Windows or MacOS at it`s current state, it`s free and yet people run away from it because it`s not user friendly. Look at Android, it`s based on linux and it`s popular because nobody has to deal with terminal and other crap.

yet another new insider build hit yesterday and it is even more buggy. i'm just about done with these weekly insider builds that seem to only be there to screw with me and mine. each time it delete half of my programs, resets every setting i have changed and undoes all the tweaks i have done to my pc. all just to add a new app they think is worth my time.

i've done the beta testing thing for MS for many years now and they are very close to me walking away from the program. no amount of advanced access is worth the grief these weekly resets are bringing to the table.....

seriously dude how stupid are you? you sign up for the windows insider program to test beta maybe even alpha level builds of software that they even warm you about about it being buggy and you are complaining about bugs? not only that they have 2 or more levels you can subscribe to for people like yourself who do not want to deal with all the bugs.

do yourself a favor and opt out of the insider program or better yet switch to Linux so we do not have to hear your whining about something your clearly do not understand

i want to thank you for your thorough reading and understanding of my post, then of course your well written and thoughtful response to my current issue with the win 10 insider program. i am a changed man now and my life will be all the better now that you cleared it up for me.

for me to expect that the windows beta builds would be anything like they have been for the last 15 years or so is clearly a stupid thought. pardon my ignorance to expect that MS would treat beta testers with a bit of respect for the help and not make it virtually impossible to spend any time with a build before it is replaced. how stupid of me to expect a bit of time to spend with a build to identify issues and work with MS to fix them.

bugs are expected and the reason for the beta program, however as you fully understood in my post, a full reinstall of the os every week to introduce a new app is not exactly winning the hearts of the testers. this has nothing to do with bugs. resetting and deleting half my programs and settings whenever they feel like it is not a bug but rather a poorly chosen way for MS to introduce features to insiders.

it's supremely thoughtful responses such as this one that shows me why you are such a valued member of this forum. :sarcastic: thanks for being there for us all :) now i'm back to re-configuring some things again and waiting on pins and needles for them to be reset again......

So praising when someone actually does something right is trolling? Sure. Kind of getting past the fact that when someone says "it takes a million clicks to do anything" actually proving that it doesn't and proving the old system is actually still there for people who aren't too lazy to even try.

OK mate, clearly you've proved your point.

Yeah. I think I did, actually. Thanks.
