when i first installed my 6600 gt (Evga, not leadtek) most games
crashed. it seemed soound related to me so in the game itslef i went
to the option screen and found a toggle to tick the sound to medium
detail from high detail (or something that sounded like that) and that
seemed to fix it. halflife 2 was the biggest offender that i had, but
it runs well now.

Give this a try, pick any graphic card that is close to 50 Watts. The
6600GT AGP runs around 50 Watts under load.

Here's another. If the agp is like the pci-e, then it's 4a an 12v and .2 on
5v.

I think if he unplugs everything in his system except for CPU fan, main
hard drive and video card and still has problems it would rule out the
power supply as being the problem...right?

Archived from groups: alt.comp.periphs.videocards.nvidia (More info?)

Wel going by that great link about power supplies I know its not that. I
dunno what it is. I decied tomove the graphic card accellor option down 2
and I put agp to 4 gonna put it back to 8 and try running it with just the
hardware acceleration down to 2 and see what happens! Hope this thread is
helping others as well as me!

Can you please list everything in your system including motherboard?
You might have done so already but I can't find it. Are you also using
Windows XP?

Archived from groups: alt.comp.periphs.videocards.nvidia (More info?)

That means you disabled DirectDraw and Direct3D acceleration. I think
that could not be a solution with your 6600GT.

There must be something else in your system.

I think I fixed it. I set the hardware acceltor for it to level 3 and no
problems now. I wonder why that is. AH well Here is excatyl whats in my
system:

Gigabyte k8 triton motherboard
AMD 64 3000+
2 sticks of DDR 512mb 3200
Audigy sound card
Geforce 6600 leadtek 6600 128mb DDR
ATI TV ve
1 maxtor 120 gig hard drive
1 Westerin digital 160 gig hard drive
1 DVD R +/- lite on drive

Using only the onboard lan disabled onboard sound and fastwrites in bios.

The next level is disable direct Draw and 3d this one is right above it.
Oops ment level 4 was counting right to left haha sorry but so far so good
game runing just fine now if only I could get Janes Anthology to work lol

Archived from groups: alt.comp.periphs.videocards.nvidia (More info?)

Have you tried any different drivers?

By the way I just got the MSI 6600GT AGP card. So far no problems. I am
running a 330 Watt Antec True Power supply.

NF7-S
2500+ Barton
512 Megs 3200
1 CD-RW
1 CD-ROM
1 Hard Drive 7200 RPM's
(usually I have two hard drives but I needed the power cable for the
video card, ordered a molex Y adapter)
7 Case Fans

My benchmarks seem to be right for 3DMark 2003 and 2005, but for some
reason the score for 3DMark 2001 is very low. What's even stranger is
that is the same score I was getting with my 4200. I'm thinking the
score is low because my fsb is running at 166 Mhz, most of the scores a
lot higher then mine are running faster CPU's and a faster fsb.

Does that seem right?
3DMark 2001 - 13600

3DMark 2003 - 7200

3DMark 2005 - 3150

Archived from groups: alt.comp.periphs.videocards.nvidia (More info?)

Going by your scores, mine seem right don't they? Your running faster
CPU, and bus speed. What is the front side bus speed for that CPU?

Your score still seems a little low for 2001, I thought most people
were getting at least 17000+. Is it because the 3Dmark2001 benchmark is
very CPU dependent?

Archived from groups: alt.comp.periphs.videocards.nvidia (More info?)

they say the newer cards "break" 3dmark 2001 I need to download it and run
okay just ran it after typing this up lol
it to see what I get now my scores were the following:

3dmark 2005: 2901 (older score havent run int since last insall some reason
wont work)
3dmark 2003: 7450
3dmark 2001: 15836

for some reason aqumark dont work at all freezes up

Archived from groups: alt.comp.periphs.videocards.nvidia (More info?)

yup 3dmark 2001 is more CPU dependent and I have fast writes off as well
maybe anothe thing

Oh and the system still works perfect with 2 HDS and 2CDs. <G>

and then some. I am starting to think it not the sound card power or
anything maybe its just the card I think i will try and underclock it and
see what happens

Update - I stressed my MSI 6600GT AGP for around 20 hours straight
using the first four tests in 3DMark2001 looped. Not a single problem.

The big difference between your 400Watt Antec supply, and my 330
TruePower is how they use the total wattage. Your rails have combined
wattage and its possible to pull too much wattage away from another
rail. My supply is smarter in how it uses the total wattage.

Sometimes even though it might not be the real problem, you try it
anyway to rule it out for your sanity. So maybe a new power supply is
worth a shot at this point.

Archived from groups: alt.comp.periphs.videocards.nvidia (More info?)

FYI something I found out recently if you decide on getting a new
supply. Antec has increased the current on the +12 for all wattage
models of the Truepower series or so I was told by someone at Antec. I
contacted them because the specification pages were not the same as
their manuals online. I also noticed Newegg is still using old
information and pictures for the TruePower series. So if you decide on
a TruePower make sure your getting the newest model with the increased
current on the +12.

Yeah b een thinking about it gonna build a second computer anyway based on
my older xp 2600 cpu could use this power supply on it and get a good one
for this comptuer hmmmm
