LED or LCD Monitor for gaming? Best brands?

I'm looking to spend like 100-150 on a monitor for a pc I'm planning right now on most sites that has like 20-23inch monitors in my price range and im looking at a 1080p resolution i hear that's a good resolution.

But what im not sure about is whats best LCD or LED and why?

Also any brands that are exceptionally better for gaming compared to others?

LCD and LED are both LCD panels. The "LCD" monitors use a CCFL (small fluorescent tube) for backlighting and the "LED" monitors use leds in an edge lighting mode.

Asus, Dell, Benq, Hanns-G, Samsung all make good monitors. 1080p is kinda the "standard" for monitors now, and provides a good gaming experience as well as high def movie watching.

Personally, I like the led backlit monitors as they tend to be more "even" in lighting since the leds are spaced evenly. The ccfl backlighting relies on a single bulb and sometimes tends to have issues at the outer edges of the display.

For gaming, most people will tell you to get the fastest response time you can, i.e. 2ms. I don't do a lot of gaming, but I find that response time, at least for me, isn't as critical and I can live with a higher figure like 8ms.

21.5" is almost a standard size of a gaming monitor, and you should go for a FULL HD display. BENQ, ASUS AND DELL are good brands for gaming LED BACKLIT LCDs
