Question Left PC off for ~5 Months, Now Constant Boot Loop

Hello Everyone,

I recently went to university and have not had the time to game as much as I used to, so I haven't been playing many games on my rig since. I ended up getting a virus on it because of my own stupidity, so I ended up disconnecting it from wifi while I waited to get my old windows install to wipe it which was home.

In the mean time I left it off since ~January, and now it has some really weird behavior. Every time I boot it either gives a B2 or 99 error code. I looked these codes up in the manual and their meaning are here:

99: Super I/O Initialization
B2: Legacy Option ROM Initialization

Also when it displays "B2" it does not give the option on screen (it does show the ASUS logo) to go to the bios which is DEL or F2. If i then wait it will either restart and go back to "B2" or it will show the DEL and F2 options under the logo and give the 99 error indefinitely (I left it for hours and that is all it does, it is just there frozen). I obviously have tried to hit F2 or DEL but it does not respond. I have also tried every USB port and I have verified my keyboard is indeed working. Below I have given useful specs, but if you need more I can get them.

I am almost entirely sure it is not a hardware malfunction and is probably some sort of issue with how i last boot down the computer (I hit the power off directly on the PSU, ik stupid).

I am active and if anyone needs more details feel free to ask; I just want my PC back 🙁🙁

Have you tried basic stuff like clearing cmos or similar?(if you do not know how to do it ill reply)

I would leave 1 stick of ram, and remove every else.
Disconnect hdd, ssd etc.
Disconnect everything from it except, the monitor , mouse and keyboard.

What RememberThe5th said, but I would also go as far as removing the video card and use the integrated graphics to rule out a GPU failure.

EDIT: Wait... does that board even have onboard video?

It does not have onboard Video 🙁 I am going to do some of the suggestions of Remember the 5th and get back

I do not know how to clear the CMOS's; I will google it and figure it out

I did end up clearing CMO's and I did get into the BIOS but then once I left to set everything up again it went back to the boot loop behavior even when I tried clearing CMOS again

Also followup question since i did get into the BIOS does that indicate that the hardware is fine? I did transport the PC in a carpeted Lincoln though the case was obviously closed fully. could that have caused an issue?

Followup Note: I am going to reseat everything tomorrow and put the PC flat so everything has good contact

I did a quick google search on the b2 error and there's a lot of discussions suggesting that the actual motherboard bios could corrupted. In this case you could try reflashing the BIOS using a USB storage device and the bios flash button. I would try this last when all else fails. Read the user manual first though!

I know that my Asus Maximus Hero VII that I currently use, which had resoldered socket, on first boot with cleared cmos, it would post B2 or B6(?) and fans would ramp down a bit, stick to the black screen and give me the welcoming enter the setup.
Othervise I've had to fiddle around which ram would work in which ram slot first (Of 2 sticks that i have), and when it boots i just shutdown and plug second stick and works fine.
WIthin 5-6 months apart I've had just one or two bsod's or freezes.

This may sound dumb, but was your PC plugged into power without powering on?
I may suggest to unplug the psu from wall and leave it as it is for 2h. When i've heard this from other people they say it worked for them.
