I needed a new battery for my older Carbon X1, purchased an aftermarket one from eBay.

After working for a few weeks the unit now thinks it is in hibernation mode or some other power issue when the battery is installed. When I plug in the power supply, the on/off button blinks three times. If I remove the batter the unti works fine.

Wasn't expecting miracles with the aftermarket battery, but wondering what the best thing to do now is?

Thanks

Potentially incompatible battery. Many laptops nowadays have batteries with logic boards built in. If the laptop can't communicate with the board (or gets the wrong info/response) all sorts of weirdness can happen.

Maybe try contacting Lenovo to see if they offer an official replacement battery for your specific laptop model.

Make sense, the OEM replacement is $100, I am trying to keep it just as an extra laptop, dont really need it, but even if I want to sell it, would be nice to have a working battery and since they are going to just a few hundred dollars on eBay, I would love to find a replacement that is cost effective
