[SOLVED] Lenovo Laptop PSU

Hi All,

My nephew some how managed to put a screw into his laptop PSU, i have told him to stop using it just in case he electrocutes him self. Now i thought i had a replacement for his PSU which i kind of do but they don't match exactly. Now i remember reading somewhere years ago not using the exact same PSU could cause major problems but i wanted to check before i tell him that i don't have a replacement charger

Original Charger
Lenovo ADLX65NLC3A
Input - 100-240v 1.8A 50-60Hz
Output - 20V - 3.25A

Spare PSU
Lenovo ADLX90NCC3A
Input - 100-240v 1.2A 50-60Hz
Output - 20V 4.5A

I am right in thinking if he plugged in the spare PSU it would fry his laptop?

No, that's not correct. The output (20V 4.5A) is the maximum it can supply but the laptop will only draw what it needs.
