Hey everyone, I'm new here! I'm currently attempting to wire my old laptop webcam into a USB cable. I can't figure out what wires go to what! There are 8 wires coming off the webcam so its rather confusing for me. I'd appreciate any help!

Webcam model: PK40000N400

Why you think you should be able to do that? I'd say these wires go directly to the motherboard where they connect to a controller who talks to the rest of the system.
Most laptops use the USB protocol wired directly to many components inside a laptop. I have yet to find a laptop that doesn't use USB for the cameras, and keyboard illumination, and many use USB for key board and touchpad interfacing. This makes it easy to standardise parts right down to the IC communication on a low level. As for the camera mentioned by the 1st poster asking for pinouts they are (for the Chicony version) :

1. VCC3M, 2 Hall(lid open /closed) sensor, 3, SHgnd, 4. M_CLK, 5. M_DATA, 6. M_DET, 7. GND, 8. D+, 9. D-, 10. VCC3B.

The only pins you need are the last 4, the data lines are a twisted pair, and the 2 eitherside are 5V and Gnd. The other set are microphones, and the hall effect sensor to tell the computer that the lid is open or not, if connecting like I have to a RPi you could use these features to detect proximity to something and taking action. Mine takes a photo each time the head of my 3D printer is in a suitable location so it isn't in shot when I am making a timelapse. Have fun and learn by making mistakes, it's the best way to understand what went wrong and prevent it next time, and ignore people who put you down negatively without being helpful or supportive.
