Less frames after GPU upgrade

I recently purchased a GTX 1070 8GB, as an upgrade from my GTX 970 4GB, as means for improving my fps. This however, has not happened and am getting even less. Wondering what might be the cause of this because the 1070 is such an improvement.

Power Supply: Cooler Master V550
CPU: i5 5670 3.40ghz
8GB RAM

can i know ur Mother board and a game with the fps u gets when u play it?

Same game? Perhaps it's running at a higher level directx or you mistakenly have settings too high on the driver side. I typically set the driver settings to be application controlled.

Did you reinstall GPU drivers?
I suggest you reinstall them and check clean install option.

Motherboard is H81M-PLUS

There have been drops on all my games including; PUBG, LoL, CS:GO, Skyrim (modded heavily), Black Ops 3 and even more.

I wouldn't expect much if any gains in any of the games you mentioned if you're playing at 1080p the bottlneck was your CPU not your GPU on them anyway.

yes ur CPU is bottle necking. Your GTX 1070 is good but the motherboard is not supporting ur 1070 gtx. so only in gtx 970 also it did not perform well i think so.

check ur SMPS and SMPS have 12+amperage
