Hi!

a friend of mine has a LEXMARK X74 multifunction device, whch can be used as
a copy-machine, scanner and printer.
when she tries to copy a page by pressing the "copy" button, the page isnt
full copied, some lines at the bottom are missing.
I tried to change the copy-settings within the LEXMARK X74 configuration
utility, to use the correct paper size (A4),
but the utility doesnt save the changed settings, instead it restores the
old (false) ones.

any help with this would be greatly appreciated,
thanx in advance!

best regards,
Hans

Make sure you line up the page with the bottom right corner.
I struck it sometimes where i've had to reduce size a few %. I have a dif
model but I presume it's similar.
You say "in the utility". On your computer or on the printer? On my X83 you
set it on the machine because to "copy" you don't even need the computer on.
It is all done in the printer.

Hi Bruce!

I just downloaded the manual of the X74 and there doesnt seem to be a
possibility
to configure things on the machine itself. it dosent even have a display to
do so.

so I am still facing the problems with the copies which are missing some
lines at
the bottom. I also made sure, that the the original is placed on the right
place (right corner)

regards,
Hans

Thanx for your reply!

yes, I ment the configuration utility which is installed with the printer
driver.
I didnt think about trying to change things on the machine itself.
I also dont have a manual but I think I can get this via the internet.

thanx again for the hint!

best regards,
Hans

OK, I just looked up a manual for yours & it seems your model is all done in
the computer.
Did you see a manual like this one?
http://media-server.amazon.com/media/mole/MANUAL000014931.pdf
It says ..........
"line up the TOP LEFT corner of your document with that bottom right corner
of your scanner glass?
About your settings "not sticking".
First go into your "PRINTERS & SCANNERS" folder in your control panel & if
you right click on your X74 icon & select "properties" & go through all the
settings in there & APPLY them & then right click again on the icon & do the
same on "Printing Preferences" & apply.
It is quite usual to have to change settings in several places if you want
these settings to stick after your next boot.
In Microsoft office you might have to go to "print setup" as well before
first print.
Hope I have helped a little.
In the X83 I can scan to any % I want........... 25% or 200% etc etc.
Do you have a "scan & copy control" program on your task bar near the clock?
Be interested to know if mine would work on your machine?

yes I found the same manual.

there is an arrow which points to where to position the source-paper
correctly,
and I think it was at the bottom right corner. I will check that out when I
visit my friend
the next time.

I was just using the LEXMARK "All in one Center" as described within the
manual.
I didnt look at other places to change settings, because it is all provided
in there.
I also downloaded a newer version maybe this works better.

thank you very much for your support!
I will be visiting my friend in a couple of days and will let you know how
it worked out.

is it possible to reach you via eMail ?

best regards,
Hans
