But I'm not rich and have had a Dell 24 1920x1200 since 2007 for $600 (the HC model, top end back then) and my parents had theirs a year earlier for only $650. So I'm still semi-hopeful I'll get a Gsync 1600p for $500-600 27 or 30in next xmas for around $800. Dell's 27in are from $300-800 right now, and of course 30in $1500 for top end 1600p. But things are evolving at record pace so...I'm thinking we migrating to even larger for 4K (mid 30in? Maybe a 34/36in soon?) so hope 30in moves down to 27in, just like the 24 did when I bought which replaced dells 22in lineup in pricing. When the model before hit (IIRC) that my parents bought (~2006, hit in 2005 I think), it was $800+ but quickly dropped to $650 as 27in took over high end at $1199 etc..Not long after I paid $600 for 24in (with 5yr warranty), they moved to $300 for avg 24in, and now you get a 24in for ~150, a quarter of my price though not the same quality IMHO. My dell weighs a lot and gives a serious quality feel where my 22in right beside it (LG W2242T) is super thin, light and cheap feeling with a junk base on it. Dell 2407WFPHC is quality all around. Of course the 24in were $50-60 less without the 5yr warranty we bought for both. We had employee discounts (company had a dell account) that made the warranty free otherwise not sure I'd do it today. Well I will if it's a 30in at $800, but not on anything under 500 probably unless I can weasel the warranty free again with coupon or something...LOL.

Dell UltraSharp 30 PremierColor Monitor - U3014 $1500. I really want this to be $800...LOL. Which is doable if a new size takes over 30in on the high end next xmas. Like a 34in 4K or something. The U3014 is also the only 2560x1600 on Dell's site at 27in+ (dell brand at least, but these are rare birds anyway today). I don't think it would be that high if 1440p though. Not sure why 1440p is more liked by monitor makers than 2560x1600. This wider crap sucks IMHO if not using excel or something that really uses width. The 27in has already moved into my price range, but no gsync until next xmas probably. BUMMER ;) I want a Maxwell 20nm first anyway as that makes all my games much faster (than my 5850 radeon) vs. a larger monitor which can wait. My 24 is still pretty good.

Agreed, reviews show these suck for even normal desktop use at times (IIRC it was sort of "acceptable" for browsing etc). Removing the gaming idea doesn't help, it still has issues. If you can't refresh fast enough many things become a blink fest. I could go on, but PC+30hz is a no go no matter how I slice it.
