LG VX4400B & Manners Mode

The VX 4400B seems to be easy to unintentionally put into Manners Mode via
the Voice Memo Key when the phone is closed. I've looked in the manual, but
haven't seen a way to disable that key to prevent this from happening. Is
there a way to do this, other than gluing the key so that it won't move?
:)

Thanks,
Harold

It happens to lots of us, and for other phones, like the 6000.

Heh. There is a way to do it, but it involves a small torx driver... I
took a co-worker's apart and removed the plastic cap over the button.
This makes the "mic" button about level with the outside of the phone
case. Can be pushed with a pen or some other tip if need be, but it
doesn't flip accidentally anymore. The phone comes apart quite simply
after removing, what, 4 screws?

Warranty, YMMV, blah blah!

If it's like the 4400, there are 2 manner modes - vibration and silent. You
can cycle easily between these modes, so that if you go see a movie for
instance, you can quickly set the phone to vibrate or to do nothing at all.

Unfortunately from all of the ringtones I hear in inappropriate places it
must be only you and I who know or care to do that...

The Dr offers, that Alan is correct, perfect in fact. I tell my customers
to think of manner mode as "three" positions, because you can't get to one,
without going thru the other. And oddly enough the manner mode options only
have one mode called "manner" which confuses some, like me, for example.

Press and hold the * key and it will toggle/rotate thru the following three
modes, as Alan described.
normal > manner > silent > normal > manner > etc...
