I’m not a big PC guy, but I know my way around one. I built my first computer in 8th grade, which isn’t a big deal, I’m just currently 20, and I want a project. Here is what I am going for, as it is a little niche.

I want it to be budget, as cheap as possible, under $500 for sure.

The main OS will be Linux Mint, the latest one. That is what I am currently using. Then either through Virtual machine, or on another hard drive, I want windows 10, just for the things I might need windows for. Then I want a separate SSD, not very big, to run FreeDOS, for MS-DOS gaming.

In terms of modern games, I just want to be able to play most things at low graphic settings at 60 FPS. I mostly game on Switch and retro consoles, PC gaming will be for the occasional exclusive that I cant get.

I also want an internal DVD burner, and floppy disk drive. Also PS/2 ports on the mother board if possible, and an internal PC speaker header.

I just haven’t kept up with PC components and I want to hear some opinions. This site was very helpful when I first got into this kind of stuff.
