Lightscribe deal?

I was just about to buy this on Newegg for my new computer:

But then I ran into this:

Now I wasn't going to worry about lightscribe at all, but if its the same price (or even a dollar cheaper) should I just go with it? Really, what I want to know is will the lightscribe one preform to all the standards of the normal one, or does Lightscribe slow it down/make it break sooner/summon demons into my computer? Cause I figure if it will work exactly the same I might as well get it just in case I use it someday. But if there's a chance of lower performance (or demons) I'll just skip it. Thanks.

The hidden cost of Lightscribe is the higher cost of media - about double that of non-lightscribe media.
Doing the actual burn should be the same amount of time. To finish the laser etching of the title and markings you chose does take quite a while longer to finish.

But can I use normal media on it? So just treat it 100% like theres no lightscribe until I actually want to buy the disks for it? Or does it need lightscribe disks to even work?

Only needs lightscribe disks to laser write on the surface of the DVD.

So in other words I can save a dollar and have the lightscribe option if I ever choose to use it without slowing down the DVD drive or causing it to not last as long.

So yes, I should get the lightscribe one.
