Ligit Product key will not work

Hello, the product key I used was found in the "unattend" folder off of the installation disc. It did not work at all and im not sure what to do next. The installation disc came with a Dell computer back when xp was the brand new thing. I am trying to install the xp on a new computer I bought from Dell that runs win7 on the main partition. Any suggestions?

you might have trouble unless XP and 7 are on separate hard drives
even then sometimes it still messes up

You need to buy a new XP key, you can't re-use the key used on the old OEM disk. Those are only valid for the PC they were bought with. So they key is not exactly legit.
