"Year of the Linux desktop" is such a meme.
I still haven't successfully figured out getting Octoprint or Ustreamer to start on boot.
I get needing to run a few command lines, but when the main guide tells you to launch Vi of all things...
If you knew how Vi works, you wouldn't be reading that guide.
Every little task includes at least three Google searches and even basic behavior like "copy and paste" is just different enough to be frustrating to the average person.

A lot of distros are switching to nano, as the default editor. For a long time, people would reference vi, just because it was always installed everywhere.

I don't use nano, but it's easy enough when I have to.


BTW, I've found I rarely need to touch any config files, these days, for a vanilla Linux install. The main distros I use are OpenSuse Leap and Ubuntu.
