Hi all thanks in advance.
I just installed Linux Ubuntu, and was hoping I could do it dual boot, so for safety I installed it on my external hdd via a usb iso install...
Everything went grand no issues.
Updated it and everything after install.
Now when I restart or power off and on it just keeps bringing me to the grub comman line page I think it is.
I can't seem to even get into bios to boot windows from C: drive which is my SSD.
It just goes to this grub comman line.
Any help be much appreciated 👍

I suspect you forgot to disconnect your main OS drive while installing Ubuntu.

Grub is now probably being installed on the main drive and that is what you see.
Your right...it's installed on main SSD jeez. , At command line on grub I typed "exit" and hit return.
This restarted to grub main menu...now I was able to get into bios via windows boot manager from grub menu....
So in bios I've it now set that windows is main boot priority...and Ubuntu is 2nd....
So I haven't tried going back into Linux, bit nervous...can't afford my system to break down over something like this.

Is it grand to just go into to Linux whenever via boot override in bios

So if I make windows boot manager main priorty which it is now...can I boot into Ubuntu with boot override? Or will it take me to grub again?
Why is it going to grub anyway, would of thought even after a clean install on main drive that it would boot up. But it gets caught in grub command line window

I cannot answer Windows related boot question, however if you redo this Ubuntu install to usb hdd, then you make sure Ubuntu cannot see any other storage devices except from the usb boot media and the usb storage you're planning to install Ubuntu onto.
You should be able to do this from the bios menu.

I tried it out...it primarily boots to windows now with priority set... anytime I want to go into Ubunto I can just override boot with it

Pleased to hear your issue is resolved.
I have 2 internal SSD.
Windows on one and swap file on the other. So I made a partition on the non windows drive of about 25GB. I then installed Ubuntu onto that. Now I have dual boot. So I have to choose Windows at the bottom of the Ubuntu initiation screen. I used a bootable USB with Ubuntu to start the computer and then install ubuntu from there.
