LiteOn 16x10x40 won't read

Today I installed a LITE-ON LTR-16102B in a rig where it'll be the only CD reader.

Problem is, it won't read all the discs i feed it - not even the 'Nero Burning Rom' that it came with!

I've flashed the new firmware from liteonit.com; no change.

Can someone help?

Umm...is it plugged in? Do you see it in BIOS? Do you see it in Device Manager? Do you see it in My Computer? Does the light go on? Does it spin up the CDs?

To answer your questions: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.

As I said, it won't read ALL of my CD's. This includes various music CD's, game CD's and software CD's like the Nero disk it came bundled with.

Today I swopped it with a Plextor 24x10x40 from my other rig. Same thing. The LiteOn still wouldn't read the disks it wouldn't read before and the Plextor still read everything.

So I've already returned it to the shop, and after they have checked it I will hopefully get a replacement tomorrow.

You just didn't provide a whole lot of info, so I asked everything that came to mind

Switching it out and then taking it back is the exact thing I would've suggested. Let us know how it turns out.

The shop that tested it found it to be defect as well, so they gave me a new drive. So far it reads all the disks I throw at it *relief*

Apparently it was the first LiteOn they have had to replace, so it must just have been my bad luck...

No matter, all is well now
